A little something for you

Our poor lilies and elephant ears are looking damn sad today after the freezing temps last night. Every botanical that could be moved is cold but safe in the garage. And we’re expecting the plumber because we had a pipe fatality on the back of Tim’s apartment.

But this little rose was looking jaunty and hopeful even after a dog knocked it to the ground, so I thought I’d share it with y’all. That vase is one I gave my parents on their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary a loooooong time ago.

Even though my toes are cold and I may have to sell an organ to pay Guinness’s vet bill, I’m reading stories about Cyclone Yasi in Australia, the violence breaking out in Egypt (and found out one of my friends has family in Cairo), and I have family in the Midwest who’ve been without power (and heat) since last night. So I’ve got nothing to complain about and hope to hear good news from everyone soon.

      1. Well, you can’t autograph my Kindle, so I’ll be ordering paper books. And yea, I’ll read at least one. The reviews on Amazon are promising. Thought I’d start with Coventry Wedding. The dinosaur rock photo intrigues me. 🙂

  1. Mmm, this cold weather has a lot to answer for!!

But well done to your cheerful rose in defying the elements (and canine interference!) – it’s lovely to see somee colour, amid the sad and destructive news coming from other parts of the world.

    Take care. 🙂

  2. Most everyone here, a mere 2 hrs east of you, is complaining about the weather. “It’s too cold!” “I hate cold weather!” “Hurry up Summer!” Bunch of negative nellies. It’s reading posts like this that keep my eyes on the silver lining. I wish more people could see it.

BTW: Have you read the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs? The reason I ask is because she will be doing a signing at Murder by the Book on 3/5. Me and a friend are driving in for it.

    1. Supposedly another freeze coming up. It’s been a crazy winter, hasn’t it?

I haven’t read Patricia Briggs (at least not yet!). I do love their book signings there.

  3. Thank you very much!

I can’t wait to see what you write! I think I have Pink, Book Lover, and Artist. Well, I know I have Pink Words, because I just got that set. But it’s been so long for those other two that I’m judging by the words I have. I’ve looked at Haiku–it’s very tempting! There are two or three sets I’ll probably end up with before the year is over.

Also, I’m always getting free refrigerator magnets in the mail from organizations, but I don’t use magnets on my fridge. From here on out, I’m planning to cut what words I can salvage from them. At least they’ll go to a creative cause!
