Button Sunday

You can get all that hearts and flowers stuff somewhere else. Since this is my first Mother’s Day without my mother, and I’ve had to be reminded of it day after day after day for weeks, I’m using a button that would have made her laugh right along with her kids and grandkids.

Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers. 😉

    1. Thank you so much, Chris. I know this is late, but I finally realized I hadn’t ever responded. As always, I appreciate your deep compassion.

    1. Finally taking the time to say thank you for this. I’ll never forget how your Dash and New Orleans letters made her smile. =)

  1. reminders

I feel exactly the same way every time I take summer classes and June comes around, where Wal-Mart, the radio, etc. go on and on about “BACK TO SCHOOL” sales, through out the bloody summer. it takes a lot of work to avoid all that!

(Or, actually, any rammed down my throat marketed “holiday” for that matter. Maybe that’s why I like watching people beat-the-deadline at the Mall…)

Damon’s Mom died a few years ago, and he too went through the same thing both leading up to holidays and on his birthday when the phone would not ring.

    1. Re: reminders

Holidays, anniversaries, birthdays–none are easy after losses, I know. I try to follow the lessons I learned after my father died and focus on all that I was lucky enough to have and know rather than how hard the loss is.

    1. Finally realized I never said thank you for this. And I’ve since SEEN you!

Besides all the other reasons, you know you’ll always have a special place in my heart because of your kindnesses toward my mother. =)

  2. I hope you’re doing okay, sweetie. I love the stories you tell about your mom, many of which cracked me up. Your mommy sounds like she was a great lady.

      1. Oh, you’re welcome!

I think it makes us feel better to be able to share our memories of our loved ones, because we knew how special they were and you want others to know how terrific they were.

  3. our mother

Can’t you just picture the old woman token before passing it along. Do you think she would have said “Delicious” the way she did with champagne. I miss her, too. I didn’t realize it would be so hard. Just to let you know Connie’s Mother passed away on Sunday. If you would like to leave her a message it is Newcomer Funeral Home in Beavercreek, Ohio. Her name was Mary Weis. Call me sometimes. XXXOOO’s DLC

    1. Re: our mother

In case you come back here…

She would definitely have said “Delicious!” Mother’s Day was harder than her birthday. I also remember the first Father’s Day after Daddy died as being difficult.

Thanks for letting me know about Connie’s mom. I did go and leave a message.
