  1. Hey, Becky–if you’re ever in Michigan or if I’m ever in Texas, let’s have dinner together so that we can eat a huge steak, lots of beer or wine, and then we’ll top it off with a huge slice of cake and ice cream or a huge hot fudge sundae. Join me on the dark side! *giggle*

Isn’t it neat that there’s a lot of really cool stuff like this on the internet that can help us eat better and about exercise?

    1. I love steak!

Yes, the Internet puts it all at our fingertips–which means we never have to leave our desks. Which is another of the reasons I have to worry about freaking calories in the first place!

      1. Some months ago, I saw this really great documentary by Elizabeth Cohen, one of CNN’s medical correspondents about how to lose weight and why we’re having such a huge–ha ha–problem with excess weight. Basically, for thousands of years, the humans who survived were the ones who were able to store enough fat to get us through the lean times. And we’re their descendents. However, with the technological revolution a hundred years ago, we’re now in a position where not only do we have more food than we know what to do with because we can produce so much of it and keep it from spoiling, but technology also means that we don’t have to expend much energy in our daily lives. We drive a lot of the time, we can take elevators and escalators, we sit in front of computers to do a lot of our work. A lot of sedentary activities! So now we really have to make an effort to do physical activities to burn calories.

  2. Hey, splenda doesn’t have any calories at all. I just checked the box. So how can it add up to 200 calories?

I like that I can see portions. Visualizing it makes it easier for me. If I try to weigh, or count, it’s tough. I get frustrated. So the pictures will help me, for sure.

ooh bacon…drool. Love me some bacon.
