Lion!

Tim just showed me a trailer for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, which opens December 9.

I didn’t read The Chronicles of Narnia when I was a child. I was introduced to them by my college roommate, my brilliant friend Debbie. Here’s a photo of Debbie and me our junior year. It always makes me laugh because I look like Tragedy to her Comedy. Can you tell this was in the 70s? (Oh, wait… I’m 35, right?)

Thanks to Debbie, I became infatuated with Aslan and all things lion. This is a pen and ink my father did for me during my Lion Years.

I can’t wait to see this movie.

  1. I read it a LONG time ago. Had the entire boxed set of books. Being a nice Jewish girl, I had no idea it was Christian allegory.

Damn…you just reminded me of yet another set of books I lost in the “divorce.”

  2. I too loved the series, and was taken for a loop about it being a Christian allegory, especially when I read the series when I was a Yeshiva student.

I saw a copy of the soundtrack the other day, and am I mistaken that the “Music Inspired” are from Christian rock groups?

I know we exchanged a few posts on Scottynola’s LJ, and recently got around reading your work thanks to his recommendation. I finally got around to “friending” you (if its ok).

    1. It’s fine that you “friended” me; I friended you back. I’ve often read your LJ via your comments on Scottynola. I know I once told you that I loved your woodpecker icon, since I’m a Tom Robbins fan.

I have no idea about the Narnia music, ’cause I’m so out of the loop on music, and more specifically, Christian rock groups.
