Getting there

We’re kind of behind at The Compound preparing for Christmas. We’re not any busier than anyone else is during the holiday season, but my energy level is down. Still, we’re getting there.

We decided not to decorate the tree this year because there’s a puppy at The Compound. Though he saw a Christmas tree at Hanley Inc. and didn’t bother it, I see no reason to tempt Pollock with something that can only end in tears all around.

With some assistance, I still have Santa’s Workshop open for business.

The sleigh bells are hung on the garland.

The Star Trek tree is up and lit as is the Barbie garland, and the ornaments will be hung on those soon. Tim will also put out the angels. So there are more photos to come.

Last night, Rhonda and Lindsey managed our Christmas card photo shoot. (THANKS!) Dog wrangling always makes this an adventure. I never publish the final photo until after all my cards have been mailed out (who knows when?), but here’s a crop from an outtake that I love. Tim had been at a party earlier so he was more dressed up than usual. He was beckoning Pollock over. Every time I look at this, I think he should be named Timothy Clemenza, who’s saying something like, “Leave the gun. Fetch the cannoli,” while Penny looks all fearful behind him. Mob life is hard life, Penny.

    1. Thank you–it makes me feel better to know I’m not the only one! And it’s not like I’m in a bad mood or don’t have the holiday spirit. I do! I’m just really sluggish. (Remember when this blog featured slugs all the time? Maybe that’s my spirit animal!)

  1. Ha! Love the picture!
I used to put up all kinds of Christmas stuff, but then got tired of having to turn right around and take it all down again. Now I just put the tree up (hinged and prelit!) and I have some snowmen out Marika sent me. I’ve really minimized my Christmas card list, too. Makes the holidays much less stressful for me. (Or that’s the excuse I use.) 😉

    1. Thanks!

I’m paring my card list down this year, too. Maybe. I always say that, and then I end up mailing more out. Then a few more. Until finally I might as well have done the whole thing to start with.
