Magnetic Poetry 365:86, 87, and 88

I am clueless about the Joss Whedon universe that includes Firefly and Serenity. But Marika is not, so she combined one of her passions with one of mine and sent me the “Magnet-y Poetical Lingo for Browncoats” magnetic poetry set. And I’m being very lazy and using them to do all my work for me so that I can get caught up. Blame my birthday festivities and a Monday migraine for your being slammed with THREE poems at one time.

I will be nice enough to put them behind a cut.

The week of Cow.

Lots more updates–with photos–to come this week. As always, thanks for reading and commenting. And thank YOU, Marika!

  1. The Hero of Canton … the man they call Jayne, who is very manly indeed! I am thrilled it got there. Perhaps the lingo will inspire you to check out Firefly, it’s on Netflix and ever so very awesome. Come on Becks, be a big damn hero and check it out …Joss was influenced by the south … and I’m not kidding about that.

    1. It could happen. You’ll see more of your goodies on here in days to come, but right now I’m not ruining the surprise. But I understand why you were excited, and yes, yes, I LOVE IT. Very cool.

        1. I figured. Didn’t someone send it as a gift, which gave you the idea for me? I’ll probably post about it on Friday. Along with something else. Maybe sooner. =)

          1. yes … i got one as a gift and GASPED as I did not know they were available for common folk like me… Do keep the triple knot though – a single will work it’s way through the hole.

    1. Ha ha. Cows make me laugh. I don’t know why. My mother used to say, “I love cows. They’re so bovine.” That made me laugh, too.

  2. I watched the first few eps of Firefly and it’s now in my Netflix queue. I can’t quite get Kelly to watch, though, just like he wouldn’t watch Galactica with me. It’s too dark for him. He prefers his science fiction on the utopian side where the future is full of rainbows and ships called Enterprise.

I’m gonna have to go to the Comfy Cow for some pix for you, Becky.

    1. But the darkness of Firefly is nuanced and is mixed with the funny … which BSG never really had. The language is fun and the characters are wonderful. And there is Adam Baldwin, Jayne Cobb – The Hero Of Canton … he alone is worth it. Wowsa .. Oh and Captain Tightpants, can you imagine anyone calling Adama that.

Love seeing you here, David. Hi!

Okay, now I have to do math. It’s very complicated. One of my earliest complete sentences was “Eight-thirty–‘Wagon Train!'” Does that count? Or are you talking more of the “Wild Wild West” shows?

I loved “Maverick.” Possibly a too-early exposure to James Garner in a movie that was way too sexy for my age. (My mother took me, having no idea.)

  3. You DO like cows, don’t you! That’s funny! I like cows too, but my daughter, who took a year of vet tech school, says they aren’t animals to mess with. She says if in a ‘chute, and place your hand on its head, a cow (or bull) will quickly smash that hand into something, if it can. Don’t touch the cow wrong.

    1. Cows make me laugh. I like pigs, too. All animals, really. But at some point in life, I became afraid of most animals I don’t know. So cows are safe from me!
