LJ Runway Monday: Larger Than Life (PR 8:2)

Heidi: On the most recent episode of Lifetime’s Project Runway, the designers were asked to create a look that defines the Marie Claire woman. The winning look would be featured on a billboard in Times Square.

Summer: To present Becks an additional challenge, we gave her some extra time but also told her she had to create looks for Heidi, Barbie, and me to wear this week.

Barbie: And we think the designs she created match our styles to perfection. Summer looks like the girl next door, I look chic, and Heidi looks like–

Heidi: [glare] –the sexy woman I am.

Barbie: Of course that’s what I was going to say.

Summer: For her model’s look this week, Becks chose fabrics of lace and sheer organza.

Barbie: And I chose the fabulous Dallas to be her model.

Heidi: Ready to see what she created?

Necklace of lemon yellow crystals and hematite designed by Becks.

Because of the sheer lace of the bodice, Dallas is wearing a strapless bra in the same color as the dress’s skirt.

Just like the designers on Project Runway, Becks got the opportunity to manage a photo shoot with Dallas.

Was her work good enough for a billboard?

Of course!

See you next time on the runway!

Thanks, Lindsey, for allowing me to use your painting for the photo shoot and billboard background.

  1. It’s 230am, so be patient with me … you made the white dresses too? I LOVE THEM!!!! Summer is easily my favorite … but I love all the white ones! You are awesome!

  2. Hello? I’m the Marie Claire woman.

(This is great coloring for Dallas. You have the knack for choosing the flattering colors. And those white dresses! Summer’s is especially cool.)

    1. Re: Nice work

Thanks! It might amuse you to know that those three white outfits came from a single athletic-type sock. You probably COULD do it!

  3. Bravo! Whoops, wrong network! But still, great creations! Actually far superior to some of the designers on the program. What was with that guy and his safety pins? And that horrible pink polka dot travesty. Really, I could never see you putting rags like that on any of your models.

      1. Thank you! That’s from a location in downtown Houston with a restaurant and a ferris wheel, carousel, train, and other activities for kids. I like going there at night just to people watch. Not when it’s this hot, however.

    1. Thanks very much! Actually, Peach’s pink polka dot outfit, without the brown on the back, would look excellent on Barbie. And this week I put a sock on Barbie, so she probably wouldn’t be surprised by rags!

        1. I’m not surprised. As hard as everyone was on it, I kept thinking the construction was damn near flawless, and it would be a fantastic Barbie outfit.

          Peach–call me!
