Just after midnight

We still have power. Winds have been gusting for about three hours. First bands of rain from Hurricane Ike falling on us.

Two things–happy belated birthday to Jim. Happy birthday, Todd. We’re having a big ol’ hurricane in y’all’s honor. Don’t feel you have to repay us in kind when The Compounders’ birthdays roll around.

Oh. And we are SEWING.

  1. Thank you for the birthday wishes, very very sweet of you considering what you are going through. I am never going to be able to persuade you that 13’s are lucky now……NEVER! They really do seem jinxed for you my dear, which saddens me…..sigh.

You all are and have been so in my thoughts. I have a friend who finally evacuated off Galveston as well, which is such a relief.

Positive thoughts channeling your way. Be safe….all of you.

    1. I’m glad to hear about your friend. Poor Galveston is in such bad shape. I appreciate all your positive thoughts–and I’ll try not to blame 13 for Ike.

    1. I’m so dazed by everything that’s happened that I can’t remember who told me what’s going on with you, but I knew it even before we got our own power back. I’m sorry to hear about all the damage at your house. I’m frankly dazed by the efficiency and dedication of our utility companies, so I’m hoping that estimate is just to be on the safe side, and they’ll actually have you up and running sooner than they’ve said. I’ll continue to send all good thoughts your way.

    1. Thank you so much. We’ve been extraordinarily lucky compared to what many others in our area–and even beyond, as Ike moved northward–have endured and are still enduring. It means so much to have the good wishes of people everywhere.
