We still have power. Winds have been gusting for about three hours. First bands of rain from Hurricane Ike falling on us.
Two things–happy belated birthday to Jim. Happy birthday, Todd. We’re having a big ol’ hurricane in y’all’s honor. Don’t feel you have to repay us in kind when The Compounders’ birthdays roll around.

You all are and have been so in my thoughts. I have a friend who finally evacuated off Galveston as well, which is such a relief.

i lost power about 9:15 pm friday night. i’m still without power, and supposedly will be for at least 2 weeks.
I’m so dazed by everything that’s happened that I can’t remember who told me what’s going on with you, but I knew it even before we got our own power back. I’m sorry to hear about all the damage at your house. I’m frankly dazed by the efficiency and dedication of our utility companies, so I’m hoping that estimate is just to be on the safe side, and they’ll actually have you up and running sooner than they’ve said. I’ll continue to send all good thoughts your way.
