I saw a program on Animal Planet yesterday about a sanctuary in Canada that take care of baby moose. They were just adorable. I’ve always thought the moose was a really cool animal.

The sad thing is after he was so glad to see them, they never went back to see him again. Just goes to show you, humans aren’t as faithful as animals.
I’d read that was because the lions moved to another more remote location. They tracked him until then and assume he finally died of a happy old age. I guess it really wouldn’t bother me if they did leave him alone, as I think he deserved to live a free life in the wild.
Which is why most zoologists today try to avoid human/animal bonding. When the baby elephant was born at the zoo last fall her mother rejected her after a couple of days. They were afraid they would have to start hand feeding her. But her aunt who had given birth the previous year and was still nursing her calf adopted her and told her own calf to go eat her fruit and veggies. Yes, elephants live in a matriarchy and the herd is ruled by the female who can assume power.
Personally, I have enough problems with Oskar who thinks he’s in charge of me.
Honestly, I think they might not have gone back because it was too hard. Obviously he couldn’t be their kitty, and it must have been heartbreaking to leave after that
I find it amazing that he was able to assimilate with the wild lions in the first place.
