Getting this one in just under the wire.
Beethoven, because I just finished watching one of my favorite movies, even though it always makes me cry, Immortal Beloved.
Who goes there? Please leave comments so (An Aries Knows)!
Getting this one in just under the wire.
Beethoven, because I just finished watching one of my favorite movies, even though it always makes me cry, Immortal Beloved.
I have to say that while I like Big B, I love Die Fledermaus it was one of the few operas I was interested in — and that was because my Mom used to call me Fledermaus — so maybe that makes me a Strauss girl … but hey, I always like it when the Germanic make good musically – Strauss, Mozart, Beethoven, Falco, Nena… all good to me.
Marika, Mark can’t see the button. Can you see the button?
That’s how I knew it was the big B. Tell Mark to put on his glasses…
Well, I did put Beethoven’s name in the post, so he MIGHT not be faking it.
I see how you are
Even if he was faking it, who can steal the thunder of a woman who cued up Wagner?
no one takes this valkyries thunder.
He’s faking it Becky, because he knows his note could not be so clever as to reference Falco AND Nena. He was going to do a Rock me Amadeus joke, and I beat him to it. This “I’m button blind” thing is a ruse! He is trying to steal my thunder!
Cue up Ride of the Valkryies !!!
I can’t see the button. ::swats with cane::
Is there a little red X or just nothing? Is the picture too large, perhaps?
It’s the little red X from Pasadena.
I despise the little red X. I will try it again. Tell me what happens.
It works– thanks! And… I lost my bet. : )
MARK! The Button is huge! It’s the biggest button she’s ever posted. Seriously, not joking.
If I’m a betting man– and I am– I’d say it’s this image of Beethoven?
Faker
Thomas.
I don’t believe you
I kind of figured that out.
I want you to know if I have to pull out a video of German folksinger Heino I will do it, and it is so much worse then Celine.
With my luck I won’t get a red X with that one.
of course not it’s youtube…
However I can’t promise that any Heino won’t cause blindness, they’re pretty gruesome. I think I have a new weapon …
I own the DVD. That’s a terrific movie! Like others have said, in his actions and attitude, Beethoven was probably the first punk rocker because he did what he wanted and thumbed his nose at society. I’m not saying I think everything he did was exactly nice, but admire those who rebel if sometimes it’s only for the sake of rebelling. Our society needs our rebels. We’re also so lucky to have his beautiful music.
I don’t remember at what point Tim said last night, as we were watching the movie, “Beethoven was a rock star.”
We are lucky to have his music.
Mmm, brilliant film – especially the portrayal of the devastation of deafness on a musician.
When I was learning to play the piano as a child, when it came to learn a new piece by Beethoven, my music teacher would always say, “you’ll like this one . . . it’s LOUD” !!
And I’m always moved by his “supposed” last words . . . “I shall hear in Heaven”.
Oh, I hope those were his last words. Yes, very moving.
