More cowbell!
Well who doesn’t love Bruce Dickenson, THE Bruce Dickenson… I think the best part of that skit is that people come up to the band members of BOC and tell them they were sorry to hear that Gene Frenkle passed away.
Ha! Sometimes SNL hits it out of the park.
Now when they play it in concert they have a roadie come out to do the cowbell as Gene Frenkle
Mine are:
10. Night Ranger: Sister Christian
09. Berlin: In My Dreams
08. Alan Jackson: Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning
07. Gloria Estefan: Reach
06. Suzanne Vega: Luka
05. Dixie Chicks: Landslide
04. Fontella Bass: Rescue Me
03. d:Ream: Things Can Only Get Better
02. Def Leppard: Pour Some Sugar On Me
01. The Carpenters: Only Yesterday
One of the most entertaining things about this meme is seeing how eclectic and random our lists are. I mean, who’d ever think to pair up Night Ranger with The Carpenters, or Suzanne Vega with Def Leppard?
Yes, well, I take my eclecticity seriously.
Come from the heart – kathy mattea
Pink Houses – John Mellancamp (I would put Cougar but he hates that name)
Stay – Maurice Williams
You are the One -Carlene Carter
Till you love me – Reba McEntire
Father Figure – George Michael
Don’t Stop Believing – Journey
Stars – Richard Allam (from Les Miserables)
Made of Stone – Dolly Parton
North Dakota – Lyle Lovett
I completely sympathize with Mr. Mellencamp, who had that name forced on him by some wrong-minded suit when he was an ambitious kid trying to break into the business.
“Father Figure” is one of my favorite songs–I listened to it–and George Michael–non-stop when I was helping write I’m Your Man.
I sympathize also, but I like the name “John Cougar” It is very sexy. LOL.
I love Father Figure and Faith. (Thanks to the free iTunes download of Faith/Eli Stone, I am now hooked on watching Eli Stone.)
FYI – it was on shuffle and I have over 2000 songs. You really never know what you’re gonna get.
..sadly I think “a little ditty about Jack and Diane …” was an easier sell for a John Cougar then John Mellencamp. Kinda like Cary Grant is more “movie star” then Archibald Leach Of course Johnny Depp is sexy with any name.
