Officially spring at The Compound

So much has been going on that I haven’t had time to post. But I love it when there are new things blooming at The Compound, and no matter how busy I am, I hope I always have time to notice. Since Monday mornings seem to suck for many people, here’s a scattered bouquet of photos for you.

A third pot of hydrangea.

First morning glories of the season have bloomed.

An entire wall of star jasmine is making The Compound grounds fragrant.

Spider web on a planter.

I’ve always loved pink roses against this wall.

Looking up into the oleander. The blossoms aren’t as pink this year.

But they’re still pretty.

    1. It is also called confederate jasmine in the South. We also have yellow jasmine in that bed. They bloom at different times. Tim cut it WAY back, maybe last year? The star jasmine has come back with a vengeance, but the yellow jasmine hasn’t yet. I hope it does eventually.

  1. Gorgeous! Thanks, Becky!
I was gong to say that I think my favorite is the morning glory, but then I looked at them all again, and couldn’t decide, they’re all so nice.

  2. I’M GREEN WITH ENVY

Currently the only spring blooms I have is dandelions and wild onions and strawberries. Most of the flowering trees and shrubs bought it in that unexpected hard freeze. Have to hit the nursery for some petunias.

Most of our stuff seems to be coming back pretty well from our bad weather. We have some lillies that seem to need to get burned by a freeze every year. I was surprised when the amaryllis bloomed, because I’m not sure it did last year.

The lilies won’t bloom until late May or early June. And if the weather isn’t really hot the bloom period is about a month. I’ll take pics if it’s a good year.

  3. I love the pink hydrangea-ours were always blue. (I know..all in the chemistry)And I really would love to smell the star jasmine. But the oleander-WOW. I don’t think I have ever seen oleander in person.
