A momentous date

I must record this, so that 6/6/6 will forever stay in my memory as BIZARRE DAY according to the following from my daily Rolling Stone e-mail:

The Sydney district of Rockdale is planning to use the music of BARRY MANILOW to drive problem youth from a local car park, according to councilor Bill Saravinovski. The move follows an Australian experiment that found that playing BING CROSBY records in a shopping center was an effective way to deter teenagers from loitering. Authorities plan to mix the Manilow songs with classical music, played through a loudspeaker in the parking lot.

I’d say they were geniuses, but my mother was decades ahead of them, when she drove us out of the house with Engelbert Humperdinck and Tom Jones. Later, Tom Jones got cool… So Barry, don’t let it get you down, it’s only a matter of time before they’ll be singing along to “Mandy.”

  1. That is so funny. I read some where that they played non stop It’s a small world, to get hostages released. I believe having to listen to that song non stop for days is beyond cruel. lol. That borders on loosing one’s sanity.

  2. I am such an old old man…..I enjoy Bing Crosby…sigh….

Also, I have been meaning to thank you for a few weeks now, for the wonderful card and photo of J.K. Cowling and her fellow authors that arrived in my mailbox. Thank you ever so so so much! What a sweet thing to do.

I would love to have a friend scan it and post it in The Moo Sisters site, but I wanted to make sure I had the permission of you and the guys first. So, if you get a chance could you let me know if it would be ok?
