Be very, very quiet…

Just wanted to reassure those of you who are checking on me that I’m fine. Just busy. In addition to working on the novel, I’m doing some contract work for one of my most favorite clients, who I haven’t worked with in six years, so I’m delighted.

Tom and I are simultaneously finalizing plans for the renovations at The Compound that we’ve been preparing for since sometime in June. That’s all going to be exciting, if disruptive. And this is the week Nature decided it was time for me to have my first four-day migraine headache in several months. Thank goodness Tim’s out of the hospital, not only for his own sanity, but because of those moments when he drops his hands on my shoulders to work out a few knots. He’s very good at that.

And thank goodness for my other old friend, Vicodin.

I like this photo I took the other day of the way the sun cast a shadow of my glasses across my manuscript.

I’d show you the larger version, but it wouldn’t be nice to make you read a page of something that won’t be available for at least a year, right?

  1. I would love to read the larger version, but you are right (as always), I would want to read the WHOLE thing. 🙂

I am glad you are okay. I also know about home projects, especially big ones, and they sure can be a tough mess. However, the final product is always great. We have our own plans for renovations here. It sure can be overwhelming.

    Take care.

    1. I don’t think I know what I’m in for when the work on the house starts. I’m trying not to think about it. If I have to, I’ll escape, especially if that’s the only way I can write.

  2. Seems to hit everyone at this time of year. I think it’s something to do with the changes in the air pressure, the lack of sleep from the changing sunlight hours, and so on.

I actually drugged myself unconscious with my last one, and normally I “tough it out” (ie: stupidly avoid my pills until I have to).

    Hope you’re feeling better.

    1. Taking drugs and sleeping through it is always my choice. This time it’s been tougher because of deadlines. But reading is really hard with a headache, so I’ve had to do it with lots of breaks. And writing just won’t happen until it goes away.

      Thanks–I’m better this morning.

  3. Oh, renovations! I hope we’ll get to see some before and after pictures.
(Hey, I’m sorry I asked you for the favor since you had a migraine. Thanks again for doing it.)

    1. Don’t be sorry. It was fun. If those didn’t work, I can do others!

Yeah, I need to start taking photos of the way we were before things change.

  4. Sorry about the migraine and the renovations. The former will, hopefully, pass soon. The latter will pass and looking at the New! Improved! Compound!, you’ll be glad you did it.

BTW, when I was in Thailand, I dreamed that we came over to pick up Sugar. The walkway to your house had been redone in marble. That’s not on the renovation list, is it? Not that I’m suggesting it…I just want to know if I’m psychic or just psychotic.

    1. Rhonda, it’s The Compound! The walkway is ALREADY marble, remember? 😉

P.S. You’re psychotic. Unless you also dreamed we’d win the lottery and could afford such things, then you’re psychic; I just know it!

  5. I’m sorry about these headaches. Wish they weren’t the case.

I’d have commented last night, but took the be very quiet too seriously. Ha!

Good luck with renovations, and that photo is so beautiful, for many reasons. : )

  6. Thank heavens for Vicodin! Sending lots of warm fuzzies your way.

And uh, I guess this means Tim will be giving me a call soon… to work on all that scrubbing he so lovingly thought to include me in… I work for food…

    Feel better!

    1. Hmmmm, when it comes to contractors doing renovations, “soon” is a relative term. Sort of like, “The polar ice cap will melt soon.”

Or maybe that’s not the best example anymore.
