I know I have a sick sad obsession with Anna Wintour, and maybe it’s strange to judge fashion at a memorial service, but it was Alexander McQueen’s memorial service back in September, so whatever. I always think she looks impeccable, but this is head-to-toe perfection, for her and for the occasion.
It took me a second to recognize her as The Devil Wears Prada-lady. I had to google her name to make sure. I saw a bit of an interview with her on 60 Minutes. Then I just read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anna_Wintour#Personality Yuck. I’ve met people similar to her. I’m guessing that inside she a lot more messed up than most of us, or else she wouldn’t have to act so distant as a way of controlling others.
I think she’s a fascinating woman, perhaps as much because of her flaws as anything. She has plenty of detractors, as does any woman with power, but she also has a lot of supporters. Regardless of who she is as a personality, her personal fashion sense is always something I enjoy.
ETA: And I say all that knowing she supports the wearing of fur (I don’t) and that she wouldn’t give me the time of day because I don’t meet her aesthetic ideals. C’est la vie.
When I was watching that segment of the interview, it gave me a nasty start because she reminded me as a person I once knew that I didn’t have a pleasant experience with.
Hmmm. I don’t recall being at that funeral….
I know I have a sick sad obsession with Anna Wintour,
Doesn’t everyone?
Can you believe…NOT? How is that possible?!?
Yes, elegance personified.
I LOVE that jacket! And who’d have thought gold could look so appropriate at a funeral?
I agree. The coat is stunning.
