I have absolutely no reason whatsoever for making this today’s button. Some things in life are just random and we have to accept that. Although if I were older than 35, I might remember a Christmas when I got Mr. and Mrs. Potato Heads when they were still just things you stuck in actual vegetables and not inserted into plastic potatoes. Apparently those newfangled ones were safer. But could they smell like a rotting vegetable or piece of fruit that would make your older siblings gag? I think not.
In fact, if I were older than 35, there might even be photographic evidence.
In other matters, I greatly appreciate your comments to my previous post. I will try to fulfill all your requests over time. Thanks for giving me ideas for LJ material!
A more modern Potato Head
Actually, my Mom got a potato head kit last year, but you’re supposed to supply an actual potato. So, it’s not like you have to be older than 35, with all those
antiquesretro presents anymore.Re: A more modern Potato Head
Good. This will help me maintain the illusion.
I got one sometime during the 70s, but I didn’t find any photos of it. I also got this toy which was the top half of this man who was totally bald. You could disguise him in various ways by applying this disgusting roll on goop and putting the various elements to his face. I found it! I can’t believe I remembered his name was Hugo: http://www.feelingretro.com/toys/Boy-Toys/hugo.php
Hugo is one scary little dude.
I had one of the original Potato Heads, too.
Was it a hand-me-down? Because by the time you were born, I think they’d moved to plastic.
Of course, I AM younger than you, so I could be wrong. 😉
The one I had didn’t have a plastic potato, so it may have been something picked up at a yardsale.
Did you see Toy Story 3 yet? Every time I see Mr. Potato Head I hear Don Rickles.
Should I see the other Toy Stories first? ‘Cause I want to see this, but I never saw the others.
Yes, if you can rent them somewhere I would suggest watching 1 & 2 first. Toy Story 3 is my favorite movie of the year so far. It’s a 4 star, 3D must-see.
I’ll do it! I’ll rent them and see the new one. I’ve heard only good things about the third one.
