Oh, I feel that song with my whole chest. So much that didn’t seem possible for me suddenly, in 1983, felt possible and probable and guaranteed, and it had a kickass soundtrack. The cocoon (closet) ripped open to those opening, “ba da-dum ba da-dum bumm… RAA RAA! ba da-dum da da-dum bumm… RAA RAA!” percussions. I’m smiling.
I love that song. Some of those movies/soundtracks from the 80’s are kinda cheesy today, but the memories they bring back of that time of life are unforgettable.
how very cool is that!?!
Becky, have I told you lately that I love you? This is one of my all time favorite movies. I saw it very early after release when I didn’t know that Jennifer Bealls did NOT do the dancing. So the fantasy was not spoiled (like Mark’s was with ‘the crying game’)
Now when I watch it I see if I can tell when they switched from Legs to Jennifer (the boobs are a giveaway in many of the shots–his falzies are not usually as big as her boobs)
But I still love the music and the dancing AND the LOVE STORY.
his falzies are not usually as big as her boobs.
His? I knew they used a dancer-double, but didn’t know they asked a guy to do it. I bet his name was Trystero too, wasn’t it?
I think the story is that he had a mustache that he wouldn’t shave off. I forget how they got around it–I guess maybe by just not showing his face.
Maybe it comes from being the youngest child, but the only response I have is, You guys are fucking with me!
I’ll have to do an entry of all the stories my brother had me believing when I was a little boy.
Honest! would I fuck with you? (well, not THAT way) and what the heck did I mean to type that came out “falzies” ??? OIC it was falsies.
yeah there were several “dance doubles” for the movie and one was a break dancer called CrazyLegs.
From imdb.com “‘Sharon Shapiro’ was one of three dance doubles used in the famous audition scene. She is a record-holding UCLA champion, having won all four events plus the all-around at the 1980 National Championships. She also won the national title for the Vault and the all-around in 1981. In the audition scene, Marine Jahan does the dancing, Shapiro dives through the air, and Crazy Legs does the breakdancing”
Sometimes my typing bites the weenie Rizzo. (with relish!) Honestly I type better at work, I wonder why.
I am more of a MANHUNT girl myself…
take two
Re: take two
Success! And he’s dancing like he’s never danced before.
