First, snail mail. I must share a photo of this jigsaw puzzle codyfrizbeejr sent to The Compound. There are some ardent LOTR fans–oh, who are we kidding? There are some ardent Viggo Mortensen and Orlando Bloom fans on my Flist. I’ll be thinking of y’all when I’m trying to find pieces of their faces, and I’ll post a photo when Tim and Tom I finish putting it together.
The puzzle tin is resting atop a stack of editor copies of The Book With The Longest Waiting Period Ever: Fool For Love: New Gay Fiction. I am SO THRILLED that people are finally getting to read this collection. It’s been torment not blurting out details of the stories. Most of the work I’ve been involved with is about a year from acceptance to publication. But this collection was first conceived, and stories were sought, in early 2006. Three years! Elephants have given birth in less time!
I’m very grateful that after Haworth was sold, Cleis was willing to publish the anthology, because if you want to read romance, here are some heartwarming, funny, bittersweet, hopeful, wistful, and sad tales. I know in this case it’s okay that I speak for Tim, too, when I say that no editors could be prouder of a group of writers for all their unique and talented voices. BUY THIS BOOK. You won’t be sorry.
Next topic: Reader mail. But that’ll have to wait until after I sleep. And you’ll also get pictures of things happening at The Compound. Don’t tell me I don’t give you reasons to refresh your Friends page over and over. Or–am I the only one who does that?
Mmmmm. Viggo. The scene where he throws open the doors and walks in, all scruffy and angry? Hoo yah. Ahem, um, yes, I like the Lord of the Rings, too.
I gave up yesterday and ordered ‘Fool for Love’ from amazon.com. Don’t tell my bosses. I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on it. Despite cajoling, bribery, and less reputable offers, no one has spilled the beans about the stories therein, and it’s killing me. Not that I made any offers or anything. Just saying.
I can’t wait for you to get it. Although as I just mentioned to Jeffrey, y’all should be getting either one or two contributor copies, too.
Congrats on getting the physical copies!! I’m very much looking forward to reading the stories.
I can’t wait for people to being reading and talking about them!
I’m already thinking of the poses for that “Reading is Hot” photo.
I’m thinking how much fun it’ll be to do a group shot of some of the contributors with the book in May.
I really need to get my act together and order my copy, don’t I?
Jeffrey R.
I hope you’ll be getting a contributor copy soon. Or copies. I don’t remember. Two copies?
“…and I’ll post a photo when
Tim and TomI finish putting it together.”Yes please! *drools*
BUY THIS BOOK. Have placed order – delivery stated as mid-February.
(PS. “A Coventry Wedding” arrived yesterday!!).
Thank you for buying the books! Definitely will post a picture for the LOTR-man-fans.
Got my copies yesterday! Whee!
And Becky, I hope you and Teej are as happy with the quality of Cleis’s production as I was. I have to say that is a fiiiine looking book!
Now I just have to read it.

I think the book looks great. Very crisp.
