A few photos

I just went out with the dogs to check the weather. It’s cold–39 degrees–but no precipitation right now, so nothing sleety or snowy going on at The Compound. I realized that I never put any pictures on here of last week’s “big event”:

Cold fern.

Cold elephant ear.

Cold palm.

Cold cacti.

Of course, New Orleans, as is her wont, had to one-up Houston and have real accumulation for dramatic photos of snow-covered streetcars and such. She’s such a show-off, that coastal sister of ours. We love her.

      1. Oooh, yes, I though the fern photo turned out really well. Tim said I got a lot more snow in my area than you all did. My philodendron is normally taller than my house, but now it is half that size.

I think my last posted entry on LJ had a the picture, I can’t remember.

    1. Just a sprinkling of snow. We rarely get it this near the coast, so when we do, we all carry on about it, making our neighbors to the north roll their eyes at us.

      1. We had one when I lived in Lexington that knocked power out in most areas for 5 days. I was never so thankful for my gym membership as I was then, since they had power and hot water.

  1. *She looks out her window to view the 6 inches of snow on the ground and knows there’s more coming.*

Seriously? You got that? In Houston? That is something to blog about. The cacti will love it though – they’re so resiliant. I didn’t know that ’til I moved to NM. The things you learn…

    1. It doesn’t look like our little bit of snow hurt anything. That one cactus has been having some problems. I’m hoping I don’t lose it, but it used to be in much better shape.

      Six inches of snow? Brrrrr.
