I want to be a paperback writer

The posts: They will be coming soon. Very soon. Lots of posts. And then you will beg me to shut the hell up and stop posting so many photos.

In the past, I’ve talked about burning a CD of the songs referenced in A COVENTRY WEDDING. Uh, now I see that would be too big a project. By popular demand (a/k/a, Marika once asked), here are songs either named in the novel or woven into the plot. I may have missed some. Since my work is not read with the same scrutiny as Anne Rice’s (PQ: that interchange between “Louis” and “Lestat” was so entertaining), I doubt anyone will notice.

Dear Prudence–Beatles
She’s Leaving Home–Beatles
A Boy Named Sue–Johnny Cash
The Long and Winding Road–Beatles
Yellow Submarine–Beatles
Martha My Dear–Beatles

  1. If “It Keeps You Running” is the song I think it is, I used to like it.

This is going to be a fun entry to return to, while reading A Coventry Wedding, if for no other reason than to figure out what you did with “Lady Marmalade.” : )

(But there will be many other great reasons to read it, I’m betting.)

    1. Your best reason to read it, Mark G. Harris, is so that you won’t be constantly nagged and tormented about not reading it. You know, like The Deal and Someone Like You.

        1. I think it SHOULD be a source of merriment. It’s not like I’d actually tie you down and force you to read them.

Only because I haven’t figured out a way to do that and make sure your hands are free for smoking.

      1. I just YouTubed it, and yeah, that’s the song! One of the many casualties that I haven’t thought of, ever since that first hearing of Toni Basil’s “Mickey” made me forget everything, including my cares.

Thanks for reminding me! : )

            1. Please. I remember a song we made up about an unfortunate co-worker who had the misfortune to wave politely at us as we drove by. I am on to your tricks.

                    1. It’s a great song, about Lisa, and it mentions Mark … it’s so good. The Beatles WISH they would have come up with my version.

  2. My dear, if those songs are all in MP3 format, they will more than fit on one CD.

And I remember watching the Beatles cartoon shorts when I was in school. I? Am old.

  3. The real problem with making this playlis is that while you can burn them easily off itunes ( I am assuming you have itunes) on to multiple discs, itunes only lets you burn a certain amount off of one playlist. Stinkin music bastards.

    1. Have they finally started putting the Beatles songs on iTunes? That negotiation took forever–not that it matters to me, since I load them all from my own CDs.

      1. I don’t think so … but you can import your discs on to itunes. and burn them — screwing somebody out of money. Do you know what gets me? BOB SEGER isn’t on itunes… like Against the Wind is all that great.

        1. My bad … you can get Against the Wind, because it’s on a soundtrack … it’s the other stuff you can’t get, and frankly I would love me some Hollywood Nights

                1. Re: I got your AC/DC right here

the best part of this Kuni and Tom saw this concert LIVE when they were in Vegas.. it was the DIVA’S thing

              1. Re: I got your AC/DC right here

Having been an AC/DC fan in my misspent youth, I couldn’t resist. Then it was like a rubber necking moment, I couldn’t stop it in fear of missing something more scary than that high heeled hop.

Thanks for the mind warping memory,
                Tom

                1. Re: I got your AC/DC right here

I say you just haven’t lived until you see Celine play the air guitar. it does explai9n why they’re so protective of their music though … because no one wants THAT.

  4. She’s Leaving Home makes me cry every time I hear it.

The Long and Winding Road was playing at the gas station when we set out on our last road trip. We pretty much started another chapter then, so it worked out.
