And beauty at my fingertips…

Friendship is one of the most tangible things in a world
which offers fewer and fewer supports.

Kenneth Branagh

I found that quote while reading Finding Water: The Art of Perseverance by Julia Cameron. Many years ago, upon the recommendation of James, I used her book The Artist’s Way as a means for focusing and disciplining my creative urges. On my sidebar to the right, you can see evidence of where that effort led.

I’d forgotten the help The Artist’s Way and its exercises provided until I recently plucked The Art of Perseverance from a group of books that monkjoel so graciously provided. Because of many circumstances, it’s been so hard to write (and finish–which I haven’t yet) A COVENTRY WEDDING, but Julia Cameron is helping.

Also helping are so many other gestures of friendship from my friends who read here (books! calls! e-mails! other goodies!), and from Tom and Tim, without whom I’d be a complete wreck right now, from my wonderful sister and brother, and of course, from my incredible friends in Houston.

Like today, when The Brides made me laugh with the card that accompanied these gorgeous flowers they sent to The Compounders. Thank you, Rhonda and Lindsey. They are stunning.

    1. They’ve opened up so much since they got here. I put the first bunch in, and Tim came over and did some finessing with the rest of them. They’re beautiful.

  1. This post makes me very happy — I’m happy that Julia’s book is helping, and I’m glad that A COVENTRY WEDDING is coming! (That will give me a new Becky book to read so I don’t have to keep re-reading A COVENTRY CHRISTMAS…). Please let me know if you need or want any other Julia books and I’ll send them right along.
