Keeping a sense of humor

Sometimes it’s really hard for me to find the humor in a situation or event, but I do think it’s a survival technique. I’m on a text thread that includes Rhonda, Lindsey, Timothy, and Tom, and very often when Lindsey tells us news that could be worrisome, she says something like, “I’m fine. It’s fine. Everything’s fine.”

Each time she does that, I’m compelled to share this gif (I hope this link stays good):

While it’s been a challenging week, we’re all fine. And able to laugh.

  1. I don’t need that link, because someone at work has it printed and pinned to their cube walls. But, I, on the other hand, have walls of newspaper comics. I have so far refrained from Dilbert prints, but I pinned up the likes from Mutts to Overboard to xkcd to ribbons and buttons from a Doctor Who convention. The Matt Smith Doctor with That Look saying “Everything’s going to be fine!” is right next to the ribbon saying “Welcome! Everything’s fine!” and you just know it’s not going to be fine you cute fibber.

    1. That’s quite the spectrum!

I’d skip the D*lbert–I used to enjoy that strip, but I can no longer in good conscience support its creator. Of course, even my saying that would elicit the “CANCEL CULTURE” accusation. Nope. If the views that turned out to be a huge disappointment to me don’t bother others, they’re free to enjoy his work as I once did.
