A good day

Today was Tom’s and my wedding anniversary. While he did his regular volunteer gig in the morning, I decided to take a deep breath and talk myself into going to pick up our anniversary presents. More on that in a different post, because I really need to address the social anxiety or re-entry anxiety or whatever it is that’s going on with me, and since this was a good day, I don’t feel like getting into it now.

He picked up dinner for us from Barnaby’s tonight, and then I finally agreed to watch The Batman with him, because I’ve been putting it off due to its length. Also, I just knew the movie would start all dark and people would mumble or speak too softly, and I was right. I kept asking, “What are they showing?” because I was confused but also because I need new glasses. And Tom noted later that it was the first time he’s ever had to turn the volume all the way up on this TV because hello, filmmakers, when you are not looking at a freaking screen as large as a building, with speakers blaring all around you, dark and quiet movies are maddening.

Fortunately, the darkness and gloom lifted a little, the dialogue became easier to hear, and I think Pattinson may be my favorite Batman since Michael Keaton. Slice me to ribbons if you will, but he delivered, and ZoĆ« Kravitz rocked it as Catwoman, too. Parts of the plot hit a little too close to home, but I’ll spare you a political rant.
