Thinking

Monday I did a reading for myself from a beautiful new deck, the Crow Tarot, mostly to acquaint myself with the deck.

I asked for insight on a past/present/future question and drew the 10 of Wands (past), the Wheel of Fortune (present), and the Hermit (future).

I got this deck to go along with a Christmas gift, the Urban Crow Oracle cards. Since I wanted more clarification on the subtleties of the present and future as they related to my question, I drew an Oracle card at random and got… Insight.

It all gave me a lot to think about, and though I can’t really share that, I did at least want to show some of these beautiful cards. I have such a fascination with corvids, especially crows, ravens, and magpies, to the point that they’re finding their way into what I write.

I did write for several hours yesterday (Wednesday), but not what I intended to. Possibly due to a crow.

If you want me to summarize what the accompanying guides for these decks say about any of these four cards, please ask.

    1. Funny, I just organized all my Tarot decks on their bookshelves, and I never thought to count them. Might just inventory and photograph them for another post. I do have several decks. I may or may not remember what led me to get a deck. Maybe I’ll add that in with the post, if I do remember.

Ten (I think it’s cool there are two tens in this reading) of Wands as cautionary: You may have taken on responsibilities that are bigger burdens than you anticipated. As reassuring: may indicate an inner strength that will assist you in a time of struggle.

Wheel of Fortune: life is a cycle, and with the bad, there is good; change is coming and will be a welcome shift. The crows on the wheel indicate the energies of different directions. Though they are fixed, they still have freedom of movement. Three crows at the center are looking inward to indicate our inner power to move the wheel and determine the amount of time we spend either up or down.

Hermit: Alone in contemplation in the woods, the crow listens to the wisdom of the tree. He is ready to pass knowledge on to others (symbolized by the lantern he holds). Snowflakes represent cleansing and moving in a spiritual direction that will lead to fulfillment of a journey.

Oracle card, INSIGHT: Crows and ravens are problem solvers, and this one has figured out that by dropping stones in the water, the water level rises, bringing the shrimp to the top. Insight asks you to take time to examine your situation, test different strategies to gain wisdom, and when you understand the relationships between contributing factors, you can remove the obstacles in your way.

I used this reading to examine challenges related to someone in my life and seek guidance on a path forward.
