On a special Transport Monday post on November 20, 2017, I shared a photo of Ariel.
A senior with vision problems who ended up in the shelter as a stray, her outcome without rescue was to be euthanized. Our group found a rescue in Colorado who was eager to help her. They thought her eyes might need to be removed and knew she deserved to spend the rest of her life being loved in comfort.
She had a foster waiting for her in Nebraska, where it was determined that her eyes would respond to treatment. Then she found her forever mom, who had an even bigger plan for her than the one we all hoped for.
Now named Eleanor, she is a therapy dog who visits nursing homes with her mom. All she needed was a chance, and thanks to a team of compassionate people willing to make a difference, she’ll now pay it forward just by being her wonderful self.
She is lovely, in every way!
We want all our rescues to have great lives, and a story like this keeps me going.
See, there are good people in this small world after all.
I never, ever doubt it. I meet them all the time thanks to RPM, and they sustain me.
That’s a fantastic story. It makes it all worthwhile.
It’s just amazing what lives these dogs and cats go on to have when someone just gives them a chance.
