Every now and then…

…I accidentally stumble over something I would love to teach. I could do so much with Susan Stewart’s poem “Wings” and the concept of metaphor.

  1. One of the saddest scenes I ever saw happened in, of all things, one of the X-Men movies, when a boy’s father rushed into the bathroom to find his son had mutilated himself by cutting off his wings.

  2. Wonderful.

In the literal sense: these are the issues that angels deal with every day!

In a metaphorical sense: I love my wings and wouldn’t be without them for the world.
