Siblings

Since most of my blog readers love dogs and cats, from time to time, I’ll share some of my favorite photos I’ve taken of those whose lives have been saved thanks to the transport rescue group Tim co-founded. These two are Andrea and Darryl, a sister and brother.

  1. Darryl is a winner! You know, I’ve never had a puppy. My mom always want an older dog. And Renee was 9 months old when I adopted her. Of course, my grandfather always had a litter of puppies from Spot around when I was growing up. So I did get to enjoy them.

    1. Puppies are so much work! They are for people with lots of energy and lots of ability to resist the cuteness when training–because there’s nothing more adorable than a puppy running into the room with your shoe–as big as he is!–in his mouth. But the shoe thing must be nipped in the bud quickly! (Then there’s the potty training, the chewing, the crate training…)

It’s harder to adopt out older rescue dogs, so you did a good thing–and Renee knows it.

      1. I think Molly figured out, that if she stopped the shoe thing, she would stop hitting herself with the shoe (trying to shake the shoe apart in her victory dance as if she “won” the tug-of-war). She would swing that shoe in her mouth like she was trying to shake water off her coat. I don’t recall how else we may have got her to stop with the shoes.

        1. I wonder why dogs love shoes so much. Maybe just because they are always at their eye level.

I’m almost always barefooted inside, and when we had cooler weather a few days ago, I put on knitted “booties” to keep my feet warm. This was new to Pollock–he didn’t realize there were actual feet inside what looked like new toys to him. We had to have words about him trying to clamp down on my feet and carry them away.
