Baking

Today’s little kitchen adventure: drop biscuits. Not as good as Debby’s, but still, my sister would be proud. No one tell Tom about this. He bakes the biscuits around here, and if he finds out I’m capable, he might stop.

  1. We call those cat head biscuits … because that’s how my family likes them … as big as cat heads, and we like cats with big fat heads.

  2. I made drop biscuits on Monday morning, too … but I didn’t have a pretty flower plate to photograph them on. Also they were all eaten before I thought about photographing them.

    1. I was going to try that biscuit recipe you posted a few days ago, but I didn’t have enough flour. I used Pioneer for these.

  3. I –tried– to make biscuits in a convection oven once, but they just came out like empty pop tarts. It wasn’t the oven’s fault. (I even tried making a coffee cake!) Apparently, bisquick doesn’t keep its youth. The next time I made biscuits in that convention oven, I used a new box of bisquick and they came out much better. Mind you, the best defined biscuits I’ve ever eaten were at a mom and pop restaurant named Gillies in Blacksburg, VA.

    1. I love good biscuits, but I’ve never been very good baking them. And I’ve been taught to make them–from scratch or a mix–by the best! Apparently it’s not a lesson I learn.
