Dog Shenanigans

Y’all may remember the photo of Margot in her new sweater I posted back in February. However, it’s possible that some dog who shall remain nameless but who might have shown an interest in chewing wooden items before had the sweater delivered to her by another dog who likes to carry fabric items around in her mouth and give them to her friends. After the wood-chewing dog was bored with the sweater, this was all that was left of the four wooden Martha Stewart buttons:

But that’s okay. Thanks to a sale on some items at High Fashion, all four buttons have now been replaced,

and Margot’s sweater is intact once again. This time, the buttons are metal. So far, there haven’t been any metal chewers on The Compound.

  1. Cute buttons!
I pictured the sweater all ripped up as part of a conspiracy. I’m sure Margot is relieved she will be able to stay warm another winter’s day. 🙂

    1. I’m not sure “relieved” is the word. I do use it when we get thunderstorms to try to help her control the shivering–sort of my attempt to mimic Thundershirt.

      1. I’ve been meaning to take Phoebe to Petco to check out the thundershirts they have there. When it storms, she spends most of the time trying to dig herself a hole.

  2. Mlle. Renee’s lady vet suggested getting a Thundershirt to quiet her during the July 4 fireworks. But she is violently opposed to playing dress-up. She will occasionally let me put her bandana around her neck. So now during thunderstorms and fireworks she either hides in the corner of my bedroom or her safety corner in the basement.
    Do like those buttons though.

    1. Have you watched the videos of dogs being dressed in the Thundershirts? I really want to try one sometime.

I thought those buttons were pretty cute! Thanks.

  3. Becky, I have been debating about contacting you and since I don’t believe in “coincidences” I have decided that fate has played a hand in this communication. I happened upon your blog the day you wrote about your father’s painting of the picture of my dog. Need I say more…please send an email if you are interested in further communication. All the best to you. Rhonda

  4. I have a sweater in that same color green (but without the snazzy new buttons). Margot has exceptional taste.

    1. I can go right back to High Fashion and buy you some, if you’d like. I want you to be the best-dressed David P on my blog.

    1. Does he like to bite it when he’s walking, or does he bring it to you? I’ve always loved dogs who’ll come up, leash in mouth, to let someone know it’s time for a walk!
