Magnetic Poetry 365:321

When I post my next (and final for now) Twilight/vampire-themed poem, I will have seen Breaking Dawn Part 1. It’s bound to be an interesting audience. I enjoy seeing people have a good time, so rock on, Twihards.

Wednesday, I read that being excited over a movie is “the system’s” way to keep us distracted from doing important things to improve society. It’s absolutely true. I’m choosing to people- and movie-watch at midnight instead of all the amazing things I could be doing to make the world a better place. I suck! Maybe everyone I know who IS doing amazing things to make the world a better place at midnight will let me know, so I can be inspired to do better.

  1. I saw a clip on the local news this morning about the midnight shows tonight in NYC and I thought of you. Hope you have fun!

    1. Thanks!

Last year I went out just to take photos–it was such a calm, quiet crowd, but a LOT of people who were obviously happy to be there. I decided then that for at least one of these last two movies, I’d do an opening show so I could say I did. I think it’ll be fun!

  2. So the rest of us are going to be going head to head with global villainy and you are going off .. tra la la.. to see a movie. Way to let the world down, Becks.

    1. No, I’m sorry. You’ll need to be more specific to inspire me to do better. For example, Famous Author Rob Byrnes might be reading aloud at St. Agnes’s Orphanage for Blind Puppies, although that’ll be 1 a.m. eastern and he should be letting sleeping dogs lie, so even THAT won’t get to me.

While I normally admire humility and anonymity in these matters, I’ll also need a letter of proof from a clergy person, medical practitioner, anarchist, or superhero who can authenticate your brave and noble act.
