Hotter than Houston in July…oh, wait…

As good a reason as any for an IBC root beer float. For those of you traveling this holiday weekend, be safe. Have fun.

ETA: For my British friends, it’s okay to admit you miss us. 😉

  1. IBC used to be my favorite root beer. But if I want some these days I have to go down to the south city stores (Dutch Town*) to get it. Fitz’s is the current popular local brew. (Since the early 40’s.)
*Dutch Town is what the non-Germanic locals thought the Germanic locals were saying when they referred to Deutschtown. Don’t know if there was much local immigration from the Netherlands.

      1. Amazing, though I eat at Fitz’s regularly (both original and new) I’ve never visited the website. They made one mistake in the history. The Lantern House, which was the BEST Chinese restaurant in the city was in the building from the early 70’s to mid-80’s. When we were able to get a dozen people together we would make reservations for an authentic Chinese banquet. The restaurant went out of business when the chef passed away. If my nephew goes through Houston on business, I’ll have him take a couple of Fitz’s along.
