Food memory

It stuns me that we ever had leftover biscuits when I was growing up, since my mother’s biscuits were so good. I didn’t eat them, so maybe that’s why. My mother used to freeze the leftovers and when there were enough, she’d make chocolate bread pudding with them. That I liked.

When I knew my brother was planning to visit, I started hoarding and saving leftover biscuits because I intended to surprise him with chocolate bread pudding. I even found a recipe online that seemed very similar to my mother’s.

Only I forgot about the Ziplock bag in the freezer while David was here. Sorry. I made it tonight for Tom and Tim. Must have tasted okay, because this is what the 8×8 dish looked like when I took my migraine to bed early:

The recipe is here, if you’re interested.

I had to peek at the recipe to figure out how that was made ;). It looks like the time I thought I was making chocolate cake out of bisquick, which was all I had in the apartment at the time. It was so good the first time around, I tried again and ended up with a bread shell over a pool of doh!

      1. Oh! I didn’t mean to imply that I wanted you to make it for me. I meant I would start hoarding biscuts so I could make it for myself sometime.

Of course, if you DO have a freezer full of biscuts, who am I to tell you what to do with them!

        😉

        1. I would love to make it for you. It’s hard to hoard biscuits because we are all pigs over their delicious goodness. I say this without vanity because Tom is the biscuit maker of The Compound.
