You know, I am, by no means, a fan of the Twilight series. But one (kind of random) thing I appreciated — about the first book, especially — was the startling realistic, “ambient” writing about life in a small/rural town. Just minor details, really: like having to drive for an hour to buy a prom dress at the mall. But it struck me as good, authentic narrative.
