She is AWESOME!!
😀
Isn’t she? I love the non-smiling face. It’s a shame I’ll probably dress her in something shiny and take away her rock cred. 😉
Joan Jett Fan in Love
OOH, Becky,
I love Joan Jett. Where do I get me one?
Ellen, lusting
Re: Joan Jett Fan in Love
I found her at Walmart. She’s just released, so she should be widely available at big box retailers for a while. She’s a fantastic-looking doll.
Re: Joan Jett Fan in Love
I’ve seen her at Target, as well.
That is so cool! I believe that this is also the first openly gay doll with a Barbie logo.
Huh. I hadn’t thought about that.
Wait–there’s Rosie O’Donnell. She’s Mattel.
You’re right! My ex had one of those. She stood on a shelf in our living room for years wearing nothing but the underwear that he made for her.
I still have nightmares about this.
HA HA HA HA–biggest laugh today, I think.
Sure, make light of my pain.
See, that just made me laugh more. Clearly I am a bad, bad person.
Oh Lord… and you stayed??
Well, he is my ex.
I am stunned by this … and I’m not sure what to think… is there going to be a Benatar Barbie?
Cyndi Lauper and Debbie Harry. Those are the only two I know of. Madonna declined.
I did a little internet research …. I saw, Cyndi I get but I am surprised by Joan and Debbie… also I saw they have a pre-order available for Jennifer Beals FLASHDANCE
This entry inspired me to search once again for a belouis some song on itunes that wasn’t there the last time I looked, SUCCESS … I would like to see a Boy George but his recent issues don’t make that likely.
Sent you a link to another
You are SURPRISED by Joan and Debbie? How can you be surprised? They are major icons of women who made it in the music business, and they are both unique talents.
I now remember someone showing the Jennifer Beals doll on Flickr. I’d forgotten it. Now her I wouldn’t put on an even footing with any of the music legends, but I do get that she’s an ’80s Lady, so I’m good with that.
I’m not saying Pat Benatar ISN’T a rock icon, just that I totally get Joan and Debbie. A doll I’d really love to see is Chrissie Hynde.
I am not surprised by them being chosen, I am surprised they agreed — neither seem to be “Barbie” girls.
And here is a little fondue for ya …. saw Joan Jett in concert, and while I like her, worst concert ever.
AH. now I understand. I think it’s an honor to be a Barbie, but apparently, Madonna didn’t. I’m glad Cher didn’t snub it, ’cause there are some outstanding Cher dolls.
I’m trying to remember what my worst concert ever was. Maybe–and I’m sad to say this–Greg Allman. Because I get exhausted when every member of a band with a lot of members has to get a ten minute solo.
Maybe I DON’T love rock and roll. =(
Madonna will do her own doll where she has complete control… I can see her doing a series on her on … I would like an 80’s Madonna because that is my favorite Madonna … not a fan of much afterwards.
I would love to see them do boy Barbies ( or would they be Kens?) Adam Ant would be awesome fun.
Joan would be my worst concert … Erasure my most interesting becaues I got in with a fake id. They were small then, and were playing in a club. I had no idea it was a gay bar, Andy Bell came out in a leather teddy thing and I thought “Show people they are so crazy!”
Ahh … youth.
I have a friend who went to see 10,000 Maniacs and almost went into a coma from boredom.
“I would like an 80’s Madonna because that is my favorite Madonna … not a fan of much afterwards.”
Me, too!
which belouis some song? i have a few.
Some people … it ewas NOT on itunes when I first looked
I’ve seen the Debbie, but not the Cyndi. =(
Here’s a link to the Cyndi doll.

Cyndi Lauper? Aiee! I will actually buy a Barbie for myself for the first time in my life.
On top of everything else to love about this, there’s that gorgeous apostrophe right where I like it.
Ha! And no apostrophe where one shouldn’t be.
This doll’s face is mesmerizing me. I’m trying to decide if I put sunglasses on her and dress her in the right suit, if she could pass for Jackie O.
She’s got such an image I haven’t even considered redressing her. She would RULE in that vibe, Becky. Have you seen the new Oz dolls for later this year? There’s a Wicked Witch in the 1959 sculpt with, like, either green or lavender skin! I want to dress her in something a la Givenchy; I think she’d rock the house. : )
Found her! Here she is. : )
She’s fantastic–kind of a Bette Davis look.
Oh, dear–with big sunglasses on, she’s looking very Long Island.
I saw these a couple of weeks ago and immediately thought of you!
I really like the Debbie Harry, but this one I couldn’t resist.
joan Jett
I know Z (a friend from Virginia Tech) would love this. She bought me tickets to see her open act with Def Leppard when I graduated. ’twas another dime in the jukebox, baby awesomeness. I was shocked to see her head shaved, but the blackheart guitarists were hot.
Re: joan Jett
Joan Jett opening for Def Leppard–I’m glad that was as fun as it sounds.
