Avast, ye mateys.
I don’t know what the hell that means, but I only have 40 more minutes to talk like a pirate on Talk Like a Pirate Day. Since I’m reading Moby Dick, I’m really more about “Thar she blows” right now, but still…
Also, it gives me a chance to once again post a photo of my gorgeous great-niece Morgan, who clearly knows what’s important about this whole pirate thing.
First … you know how I feel about Morgan- clearly she is awesome.
Second, THERE ARE PIRATES IN MOBY DICK?!
Is that a question? There’s been a MENTION of pirates in Moby Dick and a discussion of some piratical behavior. But so far, at about the halfway point, I haven’t actually met any pirates.
Freaking whalers are all about the whale.
I did find out there’s a version of Moby Dick with Patrick Stewart as Ahab. This is something I’m gonna have to see. It’s on Amazon, but is too pricey (because it’s been discontinued). But I’ll find a way, because HELLO? Patrick Stewart AND Gregory Peck (who played Ahab in the 1956 movie).
I’m all about the whale right now, too. I love this book.
I think that version originally aird on USA Network, Becky, and they repeat it from time to time.
I’ll have to tell the TV person in this house (also known as “Tom”) to keep an eye out for it. “An eye out” sounds piratey, doesn’t it…
Pirate alert! Remember how I said I was taking Moby Dick to lunch with me? While there, the crew of the Pequod had to outrun a ship of pirates while chasing some whales! So, yes, again, there are SORT OF pirates in the book.
Obviously not the Black Pearl … they wouldve never made it
Ahoy!
“…who clearly knows what’s important about this whole pirate thing.”
And how interesting that her name should be “Morgan” !!
Good point, and I totally missed it!
What an adorable photo!
She is the best sport in the world when it comes to me and my camera.
oh, cool, pirates! I have a complementary post, if my camera isn’t broken from dropping 🙁
EEK! No dropped camera talk around these parts!
