One of us is home at last

Tim is doing well post-surgery. He’ll be in intensive care overnight and hopefully back in a room tomorrow.

That’s the most important information, and as I sit here eating the beef stroganoff Tom had ready when I arrived home, I’m not sure what I want to say next.

Yes, I am.

I saw Tim mere minutes after he emerged from anesthesia after surgery. He was in pain and could barely talk, but he managed to communicate a couple of things. (Sorry; some stuff is private.)

Then his surgeon came to tell him how well the operation went. She stepped away to write orders in his chart, and he began frantically signing something onto my hand. I don’t know sign language. I finally lifted the oxygen mask and asked him to tell me, in spite of his sore throat from the removal of the breathing tube, what he was trying to say.

“THANK her,” he said faintly but firmly.

That right there is why so many people love and admire Tim.

To follow his example, thank YOU. All of you who’ve been so worried about him. Who’ve texted and called and e-mailed. Who’ve done so much for him and me. Whether your words express what you’ve done as positive thoughts, well wishes, prayer, positive energy, good vibes–knowing you’re sending that his way is just as vital to his spirit as good medicine is to his body.

  1. That just made me tear up! I’m so glad that he came through everything okay, and that you two have each other. That’s the second time in the last 24 hours Timothy has made me teary eyed! The first was when I read the intro to Fool for Love.

  2. Best wishes and healing energy to Tim — that all happened so fast I could hardly figure out what was going on from your updates, Becky. Thank goodness he’s safe.

You are all such a blessing to one another, it is inspiring.

  3. The last few days have been a true example of family that you, Tim, and TJB have defined with your writing so many times. That so many friends and fans were waiting expectantly and prayerfully for your posts, only means that they feel they’re a part of that family, too. Get some well deserved rest tonight, because it really is a four dog night.

  4. Glad everything went okay. Just like Monday night/Tuesday morning, the last thing I did last night before closing the laptop was refresh my ‘friends’ page & the first thing I did, before even noticing if my homepage had come up was come into LJ.
Tim made me tear up, too. The more I get to know you and your family, the more I want to meet you.
There’s an awful lotta love around you

Restful, restorative wishes to you both

  5. Thank you for the updates… I know we’ve never met, but it feels like I’ve known you guys for ever and I was worried about both of you. You are completely adorable and I’m so happy that Tim is doing well!

  6. Oh that IS good news; thanks for letting us know.

You’re both certainly in my prayers and I hope for Tim’s continued and speedy recovery.

Obviously he needs no encouragement to be cheerful and positive about things; it’s not many people who would be thinking of others at such a time.
