On this day in 1882, British writer A.A. Milne was born. About writing, he once said, “Almost anyone can be an author; the business is to collect money and fame from this state of being.” Without him, the world would never have known Christopher Robin (named after his own son), Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, Owl, and all the other characters at Pooh Corner and Hundred Acre Wood.
