OMG, I’m so happy to be back at The Compound. The dogs are glad to see us, but not hysterical about it, which just shows how secure and happy Tim keeps them when we’re away.
Tons of stuff to post over the next few days, but first I have to say two things.
1. The trees of the Gulf Coast have had the hell beaten out of them by Katrina, Rita, Gustav, and Ike, and I saw more of that on this trip than on any other I’ve taken since 2005.
2. I’m not one to criticize people for how they mourn. However, in case I haven’t mentioned this before, if I ever die on or near a road in some vehicular mishap, if anyone puts up a cross or heart or other marker on that spot emblazoned with my name or plastic flowers or anything else, I will haunt that person.
More later…
YOU ARE HOME!!!
*SQUEE*
I have sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo missed you!
😀
And, I can say…
I am LOVING your book!
😀 😀 😀
Huge positive reviews coming from your newest fan!
*SQUEE*
I am so thrilled that you are back!
😀
Hee!
THANK you–for being glad I’m back and for letting me know you’re enjoying the book. =)
So were the doggies glad to have momma back home? 🙂
My oldest brother used to travel a lot as part of his job. He had two Siamese cats who did not like him being away. When he started dating his now wife, Chelsea immediately took to her, while Sammy (Samantha) took longer, which was just her personality. However, once they both took to her, she found to her dismay that they demanded from her twice the attention she normally gave them when my brother was away. When he got back, they made him pay for going away. They would stay away from him one whole day before they warmed back up to him because they were mad at him for leaving them.
They were jumping all over me later last night–which either means they were glad I was back or they were ready to be fed.
Our dachshund used to give my mother the silent treatment whenever she’d pick him up from boarding after our family took a trip. Apparently, he blamed only her for the whole thing, which may be because no one else would take him to the kennel.
Cats can hold grudges much longer than dogs, I’ve noticed.
Did Tim tell you I molested him at Barnaby’s? We are so friggin’ happy you’re home. So um, yeah, added “squee.” 😉
He left out the molesting part, but he did say he saw you two there. I’m determined no more eating out, but I figured after that many hours in the car, I deserved a Barnabys salad.
Tom and I counted up last night–we haven’t seen y’all for SIXTEEN days! It’s gotta be Starbucks time, right?
Um…it’s Friday, and we have, count ’em, TWO Starbucks behind our house. When do we get to pick up some caffeinated goodies and see you guys?
Welcome Home!
you know, i always thought those roadside memorials were terribly trashy and ugly. if it’s helping the family & friends of that person tho, i guess why not.
SO WELCOME HOME!
I just hope their dearly departed wanted to be noticed in such a way. I would not, however.
THANK YOU!
Welcome back!
Thank you so much. I love visiting family, but I need to be able to CONNECT from anywhere. I felt so displaced at times.
So if I wanted to evoke your spirit, I should do a roadside memorial? Hmmm. Does your wraith wrath vary with the tackiness of the memorial? Do I get blythe spirit with offerings of Malibu Barbie and sleigh bells, but malicious poltergeist with blue plastic roses and a box of stale raisinettes?
You bring up many good points for me to ponder. I mean, how could my wraith ever be anything but happy to see Barbie marking the spot?

You know me too well. If this were Days of Our Lives, I’d be plotting to implant a forgetting chip in your brain right now.
You made it home! Well done. : )
It’s all thanks to Tom. I went into a coma every time the key was turned in the ignition.
I look for odd places to erect one of those memorials, where people will see it and spend the rest of the day trying to figure out how in the hell someone could have gotten their car there.
For you, though, we would plant lots of wildflower seeds. :0)
You know what song lyrics I would put at your roadside memorial….since you’re going to haunt me anyway…..
Watch it, mister. If I go out in a blaze of vehicular glory, it may happen while I’m aiming Jet at you should you ever evoke those lyrics within earshot.
I’d expect nothing less, n’est ce pas.
I’m glad you’re home! 🙂
Thank you, me, too!
