Looking west, the sun had my eyes running.
Believe it or not, I knew who most of these people are and their positions:
before I went inside and cast my ballot.
Despise me if you must–I don’t feel that way toward those who disagree with me–
because afterward, I swung by campaign headquarters to pick up something for the yard:
where EZ, a single-issue dog, wonders,
Can these guys help Tim’s new grass grow?
Dare to dream, EZ. Dare to dream.
Being an Aussie, I quite like your snapshots of urban American life, but these take the cake! (I’m pretty sure that would be illegal here!!).
I think there are regulations about where signs can be placed, but these are allowed because they’re at a voting location.
Not so much in Houston that I know of, but in other parts of Texas and the U.S., people have been stealing signs from other people’s yards. Things have gotten especially heated in California relating to Proposition 8.
I think in Kentucky, you’re not allowed to have signs like that within so many feet of a polling place.
In my neighborhood, the Republican yard signs stick out like a sore thumb…. I’m tempted to think some of them are Halloween decorations to frighten children.
There are always people outside this early voting place wanting to talk to voters on behalf of candidates before the voters go inside. It thrills me when I get to park on the nearest row to the building, because they can’t come that close. If I’m not voting a straight party ticket, I always take a list of who I’m voting for, because my research is finished before I vote. No one is likely to influence me on my way inside.
Wow, I’ve never seen anything quite like that, probably because I vote at a public school in the City of NY. But I imagine this sort of thing goes on in upstate NY, where they have grass. 🙂
Grass…I’ve heard of it. Maybe I’ll even have some in my yard again soon, thanks to Tim.
I vote at a Jr High School, so there’s not nearly the signage.
There won’t be nearly that many signs at our regular polling place (an elementary school). The early voting places seem to have more–especially this one, because it’s on a heavily trafficked street.
I vote at a fire station, where there is no signage but lots of fireman hottness
Okay, that TWO things Chirs is going to be jealous about now. LOL
i drove past those signs yesterday afternoon and i couldn’t help but think of all the stories regarding obama and/or mccain signs being stolen from peoples yards.
IS that happening here? We’ll have to see if my sign stays put in my yard. A guy down the street has had a Democrats for Change sign in his yard for quite some time (I believe he took it inside during the hurricane), and no one’s stolen it yet. Unless he keeps replacing it.
i’m not sure if it’s happening here or not, i’ve just read the news from around the country where it has happened. i wouldn’t be suprised though, as much as a repugnicant stronghold that Texas is.
Mine’s still out there. So far, so good.
