On July 12, 1817, Henry David Thoreau was born. While I suspect Thoreau the man might have been a bit dour, I find that I turn to him often for his intellectual brilliance. To fulfill a promise I made earlier today, and to honor Thoreau’s love of nature, I shot photos of a few characters enjoying the great outdoors.
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.
Goodness is the only investment that never fails.
Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads.
Friends… they cherish one another’s hopes. They are kind to one another’s dreams.
Dreams are the touchstones of our character.
I love to be alone. I never found the companion that was so companionable as solitude.
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.
Ignorance and bungling with love are better than wisdom and skill without.
It is never too late to give up our prejudices.
Time is but the stream I go a-fishing in.
None are so old as those who have outlived enthusiasm.
There is no remedy for love but to love more.
This world is but a canvas to our imagination.
You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment.
When I hear music, I fear no danger. I am invulnerable. I see no foe. I am related to the earliest times, and to the latest.

Beautiful Francies. Allan’s pretty cool. And where has 1990s Midge been hiding– what a pleasingly colorful doll. : )
She’s been busy playing ball and hanging with the king.
This latest Midge is really special, sophisticated… wonder if it’s because she’s wearing black?
Those are original Francies. No bendable legs! I’m very fond of the two of them.
The one on the left is fucking dreamy.
Malibu Skipper was/is my favorite Barbie … thank you, I needed that.
Do you have a PJ
I was just talking to Mark about that recently. I didn’t know about “Steffie” or the Steffie head mold that was used for PJ and now for Summer. If I have any PJs, I’m not aware of it. But as I continue to post photos, one may appear–I’ve just incorrectly assumed she was Barbie in the past.
I’ve been learning a lot about all my old dolls because of these posts. As I’ve said before, several friends in the past turned over their entire collections to me, so I didn’t have boxes or other identifying information.
PJ came with her hair in ponytails, and beaded ponytail holders – AND really cool pink sunglasses.
Awesome post! Just what I needed to cheer up a grey and wintery Sunday.
“Ignorance and bungling with love are better than wisdom and skill without.”

It’s that wild NKOTB lifestyle!
uh huh. proof that rock ‘n roll is of the devil.
Oh … Button Sunday please
It took forever to put the Button Sunday post together, but it’s up now.
And where’s Dash Sunday?
I haven’t done that in a few weeks… not particularly haiku-ey lateIy
I’ve really been missing the doll house lately. Particularly because I recently found a picture of myself that you must have taken right as I was waking up and in the background was the big case full of dolls…
I wonder if my mom still has the old Francie dolls that i used to chew on…the poor dears are missing their feet. Possibly their hair, too, as I remember an early foray into the world of Doll cosmetology.
Poor Francies.
I can’t believe I shot a photo of you waking up and lived. You guys are so patient with me. 😉
