I just have to comment – AWESOME! 🙂
If only he had a plume scarf. PERFECTION.
who’s the cute ‘mo on the left?
Okay, this is a SERIOUS question, what branch of service is the red beret in … because I recognize the uniform, but I don’t know from where.
All I can tell you is that this is an Army Ken from the Desert Storm era (1992) and his beret says, “Rendezvous with Destiny.”
Okay Army … that’s what I needed.. although Rendezous with Destiny has a bit of a cheesy historical romance title feel to it
That became the motto of the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army in WWII (Normandy, Battle of the Bulge).
It must surely have come from the speech made by FDR before WWII in which he said, “This generation of Americans has a rendezvous with destiny.”
I’m not good with wars. Battles and that I just never do well with, the before, the after I excel, but the actual stuff of war not so good.
I know most of what I know because of my father (WWII vet, historian, teacher of military history–how could I not have picked up a few things?).
I can read about battles, but when it comes to movies, those with battle scenes or Nazis turn my insides out. Even fireworks are hard for me because they sound like battles in the distance.
to completely fondue you on the history thing, one of the survivors of the Titanic lived near a baseball stadium and he said when the home team was winning ( I think it was the Detroit Tigers – but i’d have to check) and the crowd was really cheering like after a home run it sounded like when all the people were in the water
I find it very interesting that happy noises and double for sad noises in a heartbeat
I don’t think that’s fondue, I think that’s fascinating. That must have been awful for him.
When I saw that on the documentary, it was just WOW … Iused to play softball, and I love going to baseball games, and it never occurred to me that something that I associate with fun, someone else could associate with the worst day of their life.
Of course music is like that too — Like In The Ghetto, it brings me so much joy, and it brings you so much pain … I wonder if that’s connected
Good lord, I can’t believe you had the audacity to use that user pic AND invoke that song.
I’m buying extra red pens, you know.
Trust me you’ll be using them all anyway !
