The posts: They will be coming soon. Very soon. Lots of posts. And then you will beg me to shut the hell up and stop posting so many photos.
In the past, I’ve talked about burning a CD of the songs referenced in A COVENTRY WEDDING. Uh, now I see that would be too big a project. By popular demand (a/k/a, Marika once asked), here are songs either named in the novel or woven into the plot. I may have missed some. Since my work is not read with the same scrutiny as Anne Rice’s (PQ: that interchange between “Louis” and “Lestat” was so entertaining), I doubt anyone will notice.

Cool Becky!
Thanks, Gary. Don’t forget, you and your students are in the acknowledgments. =)
Do we have even a ballpark date yet??? =0)
January 2009.
ARRRRRGH!!!! I guess it will be a Christmas Break read rather than a Summer Read. LOL
Sorry, can’t wait that long. DO SOMETHING!!!!
If “It Keeps You Running” is the song I think it is, I used to like it.
This is going to be a fun entry to return to, while reading A Coventry Wedding, if for no other reason than to figure out what you did with “Lady Marmalade.” : )
(But there will be many other great reasons to read it, I’m betting.)
Your best reason to read it, Mark G. Harris, is so that you won’t be constantly nagged and tormented about not reading it. You know, like The Deal and Someone Like You.
hahhhhaha Now, you realize, you’re only making my not having read those books a source of merriment, by this point, right?
I think it SHOULD be a source of merriment. It’s not like I’d actually tie you down and force you to read them.
Only because I haven’t figured out a way to do that and make sure your hands are free for smoking.
I just YouTubed it, and yeah, that’s the song! One of the many casualties that I haven’t thought of, ever since that first hearing of Toni Basil’s “Mickey” made me forget everything, including my cares.
Thanks for reminding me! : )
You mean he only pretends to read our books? That swine!
I hear he just gets the Cliffs Notes. You know, so he can discuss them with you. He’s a sneaky one, that Mark G. Harris.
Why that sneaky little…and he would have gotten away with it too–if it weren;t for you meddling kids and your dogs!
I loved The Deal, but 3 Fortunes remains my favorite. I admit, though, I haven’t read the tjb books yet except for SLY. =(
Oh, we met Mark G Harris down in old New Orleans, strutting his stuff on the street….he said hello hey Greg, you been to Cafe du Monde?
Giuchie, Giuchie, ya ya dada
Giuchie, Giuchie, ya ya here
you got powder on your leg
Creole Greggie Marmalade
That would be a big job to get those on 1 disc.
I have a version of Ticket to ride that I wrote for Lisa … I will sing it at Saints and Sinners … It’s awesome
Make sure I am nowhere around….
I sing GOOD!
I’m afraid.
And you should be.
It’s a good song! Crafted from the heart for Lisa!
Please. I remember a song we made up about an unfortunate co-worker who had the misfortune to wave politely at us as we drove by. I am on to your tricks.
Paul Anka remade Puppy Love? Nothing can beat the Donny Osmond original! 🙂
As Paul Anka recorded it before Donny was born….I am HOPING you are kidding.
yes… I was.
I prefer the Partridge Family’s version of “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do,” myself.
I have to go with Sedaka on that one. Although Captain and Tennille do a better version of Shop Around
I like the slow and dreamy Sedaka version better than his original.
Shop Around is dreamy? We Aren’t talkin’ Johnny Depp….
[Thwap!] You KNOW I’m talking about the slow and dreamy version of “Breaking Up is Hard to Do,” smartybritches.
I did not KNOW that … you weren’t being very clear.. I got an unwarranted Thwapping! Take it back !
Let’s just consider it payment in advance for your version of “Ticket to Ride.”
It’s a great song, about Lisa, and it mentions Mark … it’s so good. The Beatles WISH they would have come up with my version.
Double thwap! SHOP AROUND was Smokey RObinson, not Paul Anka.
I thought Shop around was Neil Sedaka
Amen!!
You really should rent Across the Universe, if you haven’t seen it already.
I really do want to. Thanks for the reminder! =)
Many of my students RAVED about that movie last semester.
My dear, if those songs are all in MP3 format, they will more than fit on one CD.
And I remember watching the Beatles cartoon shorts when I was in school. I? Am old.
You? Are timeless.
The Beatles wore cartoon shorts?
::giggle::
The real problem with making this playlis is that while you can burn them easily off itunes ( I am assuming you have itunes) on to multiple discs, itunes only lets you burn a certain amount off of one playlist. Stinkin music bastards.
Have they finally started putting the Beatles songs on iTunes? That negotiation took forever–not that it matters to me, since I load them all from my own CDs.
I don’t think so … but you can import your discs on to itunes. and burn them — screwing somebody out of money. Do you know what gets me? BOB SEGER isn’t on itunes… like Against the Wind is all that great.
My bad … you can get Against the Wind, because it’s on a soundtrack … it’s the other stuff you can’t get, and frankly I would love me some Hollywood Nights
AC/DC isn’t on there either, the bastards.
I got your AC/DC right here
Re: I got your AC/DC right here
HA! Like I was going to click play on THAT a second time….
Re: I got your AC/DC right here
you know you want too …
Come on Becky, you click it … I dare you
Re: I got your AC/DC right here
Don’t do it Becky!
But then, again….gift basket…
CLICK IT BECKY CLICK IT!
Re: I got your AC/DC right here
I’m so not clicking that.
Re: I got your AC/DC right here
Please Becky … it is so worth it
Re: I got your AC/DC right here
the best part of this Kuni and Tom saw this concert LIVE when they were in Vegas.. it was the DIVA’S thing
Re: I got your AC/DC right here
Having been an AC/DC fan in my misspent youth, I couldn’t resist. Then it was like a rubber necking moment, I couldn’t stop it in fear of missing something more scary than that high heeled hop.
Thanks for the mind warping memory,
Tom
Re: I got your AC/DC right here
I say you just haven’t lived until you see Celine play the air guitar. it does explai9n why they’re so protective of their music though … because no one wants THAT.
She’s Leaving Home makes me cry every time I hear it.
The Long and Winding Road was playing at the gas station when we set out on our last road trip. We pretty much started another chapter then, so it worked out.
