I know…

…that I’m really reaching for something to be cheerful about, but these photos are for you, Rhonda. I figured after the whining I did to you last weekend, you’d be glad to know that I have… BOOKCASES!

They are unfinished oak, but I was in no mood to wait for them to be stained. I’m now down to about fifteen boxes from fifty-plus. The Compound will be more serene soon.

Rest in peace, Heath Ledger.

    1. Thanks! We just moved an Ikea bookcase over to Tim’s during the remodel. It needed an additional shelf for his purposes, and Tom was able to get one. It sucks when one of their models is discontinued.

    1. Don’t tell. I got rid of a LOT of books. I have to purge them every few years because there’s just not enough room.

There are also empty shelves in the three bookcases that are in the study. And you know what that means. GET BUSY, Famous Author Rob Byrnes.

    1. Thanks!

I love looking at the contents of people’s bookcases. Back when Tim and I were only online friends, we agreed that the first thing we did when we visited a new acquaintance was to peruse their book titles. Greg was disappointed when he was last here because all my books were packed up. I understood.

  1. *drools* Ooh all those books … *drools some more* And all tidy on shelves!!

I feel very saddened about Heath Ledger today. Only 28 years old and all his life and career before him. RIP.

    1. Yeah, that news really, really sucked.

I have vowed to keep most of the other stuff that was all over my house packed so that my bookshelves can remain tidy and not cluttered. We’ll see how I do.

    1. You’ll appreciate this.

I’d unpacked the boxes and put the books in stacks, and Tom was helping me move them around where I wanted them and find authors’ last names alphabetically. My brother walked through and said something about my organization, and I said, “I have to get all the art and humor in the study, the literary stuff goes in the living room, and the dining room’s for the genre fiction like gay, lesbian, mystery, and chick lit.”

Tom said, “Yeah, she used to work in a bookstore.”
