Hump Day Happy

I’m sorry that I’m such a dull LJer lately. It will get better, I promise. Meanwhile, I figured why not add a new feature to Photo Friday and Button Sunday. I’ve decided to call it Hump Day Happy in honor of Wednesday, and you get to play along. Here’s how.

Years ago, when I was an assistant manager at a bookstore, I picked up this little item:

I recently rediscovered it when shifting books around. It’s 612 pages long, and every page has a list of 15-30 items to be happy about. If you want something to be happy about, in my comments, give me a page number between 1 and 612, and an item number between 1 and 30. I’ll locate that particular “thing” to be happy about and tell you. It may be silly. It may be something you’ve never thought of. It may give you an idea for a story or a post or a blog entry. Or it may just make you giddy with happiness on a Wednesday. If not–what the hell is wrong with you, do you just LOVE MISERY?

Comment if you please.

      1. If that is page 118, no. 11 is “boutique candy stores” and no. 18 is “buying your first expensive dress.”

However, if that is page 11, no. 18, it is “archaeology buffs.”

      1. Hmmppfff. that didn’t do it for me. All I can think of is “Copenhagen snuff” and I have never been to Denmark..so hit me with another one

        Page 49 number 9 please.

        1. I fear I must teach lessons in the ways of happiness… such as the way the ring of white left on the rear denim pocket of a man who likes a pinch between his cheek and gum draws the attention to his perfectly denim-clad butt, e.g., the cover of He’s the One. Or, failing that, an online trip to the art museums of Denmark to find paintings that one has never seen… Or perhaps a fantasy of one’s favorite actor in the role of Hamlet, the melancholy Dane, only this time, Hamlet is in love with Laertes and they run away to Copenhagen to open a bed and breakfast…

But, if that doesn’t do it for you, then okay, Page 49, no. 9:

“a trip to the old neighborhood”

          1. I do love a denin clad butt..but the ring from chew turns me OFF. (just me sorry!) BTW He’s the One cover model does NOT have that ring on his pocket. I have enjoyed that cover any number of times!

Sigh–I am a product of my culture… I wanted “instant happiness”
the grasshopper begs your forgiveness Master.

    1. “rotisseries: Ferris wheels for chickens”

(Possibly the reason why the book wasn’t titled 14,000 things for chickens to be happy about.)

  1. do you just LOVE MISERY?

….why do you say it like it’s a bad thing. >:(

If my life must be gothic and ironic, you’re going down with me.

*grabs your wrist and mood swings violently downward*

*and your little dogs, too!* ~grin

[By the way, thank you so much for the add — it’s an honor, Becky.]

        1. It’s a sign. My first novel shall be called “The Devil’s Toolshed.” If that doesn’t catch a reader’s eye, nothing will. The graphic shall be an extreme close-up of scaly, muscular, red hips in a teensy black satin Speedo, silver 666 at the most strategic point. And flames. For the win.

    1. “knowing the names of your senators and representatives”

Which would be a neat trick for you in the UK, no? Take our Texas senators…please.

    1. Since there weren’t 28 on that page, I continued on to the following pages, which gets you:

“pulling out some old favorite games: Monopoly, Clue, Parcheesi”

      1. Thank you! I love board games.

It’s getting harder and harder to find someone to play them with me. People don’t seem to miss the simplicity of sitting around a table with a beer, some munchies, and good friends and beating the tar out of each other.

        1. Low tech? Yes. But I agree. Some of the best times in my life with family and friends have involved playing cards and games and laughing my ass off.

  2. OK, it’s long past wednesday, but I need to something to be happy about since I haven’t had computer access since wednesday am.
No time right now to see what other people requested, but how about page 36, number 12?
