  1. I think your results are wrong … my most played song has been played 127 …. the lowest is 60. For heaven’s sake I’ve listened to Big Bad John more times then your top song, and I don’t even know why it’s on my Ipod.

          1. Grass Roots and Bread ? C’mon confess to Air Supply and Manilow – and how about Looking Glass and Paper Lace ?Hmm…..oh wait, those last two are on mine. lol

            1. I have none of those four. Now if I wanted to drag out the 45s, I might have one Air Supply and maybe one Barry Manilow. But still no Looking Glass (wasn’t that “Brandy?” I hate that song.).

I don’t think I even know who Paper Lace is. There’s a gap! A gap in my music education! No, wait. I just looked them up. I’m sorry to say I remember “Hitchin’ a Ride.”

    Queen_of_the_Wolves_9C – Jeff Funk – 48

    1. I still remember exactly where I was and what I was doing the first time I heard “Under Pressure.” I had to go buy it at the first opportunity, and I’ve never gotten tired of it.

(Isn’t it cool to have your own songs to listen to?!? Or do you have trouble hearing them the way I have reading my published novels–always thinking you could change this or tweak that?)

      1. Gosh, I really love “Under Pressure.” I was thrilled when the pilot of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip ended their show with that tune. It was the perfect song for them to use.

Actually, I find that I tend to want to tweak my stories more than my music. With the music, I hear it in my head first and then I just make sure that everything I’m hearing is on the page. Then I play it through SO MANY TIMES that it’s usually exactly what I want, which makes it pleasant to listen to later. Sometimes a group will suprise me by making a piece sound better than I heard it in my head. I love it when that happens. With stories, there are endless ways to word things. I actually enjoy fiction better. I think it’s more of a challenge.

  3. Just Missed The Train – Kelly Clarkson – 31
    Save Me – Aimee Mann – 30
    Sing Your Life – Morrissey – 26
    Unconditional Love – Susanna Hoffs – 26
The Other End Of The Telescope – ‘Til Tuesday – 26
Heaven Is A Place On Earth – Belinda Carlisle – 24
    Lullaby – The Cure – 24
    I Can’t Love You Anymore – Gary Nichols – 24
    Blush (Only You) – Plumb – 24
    Trains To Brazil – Guillemots – 24
Lover (KMFDM Mix) – Lords of Acid – 23
Thorn In My Side – Eurythmics – 22
    Cosmopolitan – Nine Black Alps – 22
    Shout – Tears For Fears – 22
What About Love – ‘Til Tuesday – 22
Will She Just Fall Down – ‘Til Tuesday – 22
How Many Times – Zac Hexum – 21
    Closedown – The Cure – 21
You Have Killed Me – Morrissey – 20
Nice, Naive, And Beautiful – Plumb – 20
Smack My Bitch Up – Prodigy – 20
    Ooh La La – Goldfrapp – 20
    Sky High – Jigsaw – 20
Thieves In The Temple – Prince – 20
    Easy Love – MSTRKRFT – 20

I’m sure my numbers are all wrong, because they don’t reflect the number of times I click the Forward button to the next song when I get bored. If it counted a song played halfway, these titles probably wouldn’t be here.

  4. The iPod doesn’t tell me # of plays, but here’s the list…

“When You’re Falling,” Afro Celt Sound System
    “Breathe Me,” Sia
    “Save Me,” Remy Zero
“All the Things She Said,” T.A.T.U.
“Are You Out There?” Dar Williams
    “Let Go,” Frou Frou

    “Anything Goes,” Original Cast (De-Lovely)
    “Magic Carpet Ride,” Philip Steir
    “I Want You,” Savage Garden
“I Don’t Feel Like Dancing,” Scissor Sisters

The Dar Williams songs were the first I ever put on the iPod, so it’s not surprising they’re the most played, but I was a bit surprised Pink got on there twice…

      1. I think you’d like her a lot, actually. “End of the Summer” or “The Green World” are probably the two strongest to listen to first.

When I was looking through my iTunes library last night, it struck me again how much I love “Hey Jude.”

hmmm… maybe I am old… I am surprised that Tapestry didn’t show up in there. No wait, I am only “35”.

    1. Actually, I believe you may be even younger than “35.” But I’m nothing if not willing to let you be whatever age you wish. =)

You remind me that I should put some songs from my “Rent” cast recording into my iTunes library. That’s good stuff!

  7. I don’t see the times played on this, but:

I’ll Be Your Light –Kristine W (white party remix)
    I Want That Man–Deborah Harry

    To Sir, With Love–Lulu
    Windy–The Association

    Hmm, truly frightening.

    1. Oh, I love “To Sir, With Love.” It’s one of the songs I bought early on when I started buying from iTunes. I just adore singing along with Lulu.

  8. #10. Scary Kisses, Voice of the Beehive (68 times)
#13 Simply Being Loved, BT (60 times)
#14 Change Trio, Joel Derfner (60 times)
    #16 Flora’s Secret, Enya (59 times)
#18 Genesis Countdown, James Horner (Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, if you must know) (56 times)
#23 Flamboyant, Pet Shop Boys (54 times)

I’ll just say that the rest are all by Kylie Minogue, and leave it at that. Typically, at this point I would add, “Don’t you dare judge,” but go ahead and judge.

    1. I would never judge. (I might point and laugh, but only behind your back, though not about gay icon Kylie.) Joel Derfner? Seriously? Bloggin’ Joel Derfner? What’s “Change Trio?”

      1. Yes, indeed, bloggin’ Joel Derfner. I haven’t had the privilege of hearing him sing in person, but he does write music for theater and cabaret. Go here (http://www.joelderfner.com/music/) and right-click/save on any of the songs on the righthand side of the page. They’re not all sung by him, and he doesn’t write all the lyrics, but he writes the music. “Temporary/Paper Umbrellas” is exceedingly catchy as well.

He’s cute, a good writer AND musically inclined. I tell you, there ought to be a law.

(If you point and laugh, it’s probably something I’m wearing. Or is it my hair? Yeah, it’s my hair, isn’t it?)

        1. (If you point and laugh, it’s probably something I’m wearing. Or is it my hair? Yeah, it’s my hair, isn’t it?)

No. It’s those two adorable dogs at the end of the leash. 😉

  9. ‘superstar’ by the carpenters is one of the most perfect songs in the history of recorded music.
the song itself, the voice (of course), the arrangment, just the complete sound of it.
    everything about it is perfection.

heaven kissed the earth, and karen carpenter was the smack.

  10. Crazy in Love, Beyonce
You Spin Me Round, Dead or Alive
This is How a Heart Breaks, Rob Thomas
    Bizarre Love Triangle, New Order
    Take on Me, a-ha
    Somebody Told Me, The Killers
Be Without You, Mary J. Blige
    1985, Bowling for Soup
    Hips Don’t Lie, Shakira
    This Kiss, Faith Hill
Behind These Hazel Eyes, Kelly Clarkson
You Took The Words Right Out of My Mouth, Meatloaf
Spirit in the Sky, Norman Greenbaum
When You Say Nothing At All, Boyzone
    Stupid Girls, Pink
    Makes Me Wonder, Maroon 5
Creeque Alley, The Mamas & The Papas
    Bent, Matchbox Twenty
    Home, Michael Buble
How To Save a Life, The Fray
    Acidentally in Love, Counting Crows
Let the River Run, Carly Simon
    Fast Car, Tracy Chapman
Geek in the Pink, Jason Mraz
    The Sweet Escape, Gwen Stefani

I think I’ll just let the list speak for itself.

    1. Wooo.. you have Boyzone in your list. Dave has the CD and it hasn’t made it to my computer yet. hehehe

and you have Let the River Run – if I had that it would likely be in my list.

And you actually have Creeque Alley too. I didn’t think anyone else would have it. I just love that song.

      1. Tim had “Let the River Run” on his iTunes and I used to hear it all the time. When he moved his office to his apartment, I missed it until I bought a Carly Simon collection and ripped it to my computer.

It’s a song that always lifts my spirit. =)

      2. I love the Mamas & the Papas, particularly Mama Cass. I’m surprised nothing from Simon & Garfunkel or Peter, Paul and Mary (or Carol King, for that matter) didn’t end up in my Top 25; I’ve got a lot of their stuff too.
