I feel like I’ve had this freaking headache forever, and it’s SCREWING WITH MY LIFE AND MY WORK.
Today, Tim saw Lynne at Green Acres. She asked him to bring this to me:
Objects in photo are smaller than they appear. It’s actually about matchbox size. It is filled with:
Delicious little fruit flavored candies that Lynne got on a business trip while staying at Loews Miami Beach Hotel in South Beach. After checking out their web site, I decided that should anyone want to pay for airfare for Tim and me and put us up there, we’ll be glad to set a novel in South Beach. You’ll be contributing to the Gay Lite Canon!
Of course, I haven’t discussed this with Tim. Something tells me he’d be okay with it, though. You know, for the complimentary candy.
Gee, all I ever hot at a hotel was a mint on the pillow. And because I had been out partying I went right to bed when I came in. Woke up the next morning with a chocolate ear.
That’s a good tactic for wheedling free trips out of folks: “I need to come to your fair city for reasearch! Really — I’ve always wanted to write a novel set in this high-end resort in Mallorca … .” 😉
Do you think it will work?
We have a Loews here, too. I wonder if they give out those candies. I might just call them.
Well, as soon as some
suckerphilanthropist sends Tim and me to South Beach Writers’ Camp, I’ll send you candy from our hotel. ‘Cause I’m generous that way! 😉another cool thing about the hotel was that the pool was open late. I enjoy swimming at night and by the time we get through with meetings and dinner, most pools are closed. It was GREAT. Anyone that would like to send me again may!
Oh yeah, an the boardwalk along the beach is great also…
At our hotel in New Orleans, the pool closed at nine, I think, which sucked, because even the pool area closed, and it’s a great place to sit and talk quietly with friends. I guess they don’t want people making a lot of noise because so many of the rooms have windows on the pool. But both times we’ve stayed there, the only people who were near the pool at night were all very quiet, so who knows what their deal is.
