There’s no reason; I’m just being silly. Tim is reading JANE EYRE and all of us (including storm-traumatized dogs) are about to watch PRIDE AND PREJUDICE (not the recent movie, but the version with Colin Firth) because a generous soul sent me the DVD, and it all just lent itself to using words like “mayhap.”
I love the BBC version of Pride & Prejudice with Colin Firth. I recently watched the recent movie version and quite liked it but found myself constantly comparing the characters, houses, etc of the two. Both of the actors who played Mr Collins were wonderful but I liked the original snobby aunt better than Judy Dench’s portrayal (and I love Judy Dench!).
Oh, for the linguistic dexterity to reject a marriage proposal like Miss Elizabeth Bennet…it was almost poetical!
We watched the entire BBC version in one sitting last night and it was extraordinary! I don’t know the name of the actress who played Mrs. Bennet, but she was dead on. And Colin Firth as Darcy? Perfection. I understand why everyone praises this production.
That’s an interesting thought. Do you mind if I ask why?
