Tonight I went to a booksigning celebrating the release of FLAMINGO FATALE, the first “Trailer Park Mystery” in a series of at least three books by Jimmie Ruth Evans. Who IS this mysterious Jimmie Ruth Evans? I know, I know!
Jimmie Ruth Evans is the pseudonym for my fellow author and new friend Dean James. Born and bred in Mississippi, Dean has found his inner salt-of-the-earth, Southern woman to create Wanda Nell Culpepper. From the book’s back cover:
Wanda Nell Culpepper’s tough life isn’t getting any easier. After a full day slinging hash at Kountry Kitchen and then surviving the graveyard shift at Budget Mart, she returns to her trailer park for some shut-eye–only to find her no-account ex-husband, Bobby Ray, flashing cash and stirring up trouble. She reckons things can’t get much worse–until the next day when she finds her missing pink flamingo stuck in his very dead body. Now the sheriff is out to pin her for the murder, and the real bad guys have her in their sights. But she’s come this far on wits and guts, so with the help of her gun-toting best friend, Wanda Nell decides to stand and fight–for her freedom and her life.
I always suspected those lawn flamingos were evil.
OMG
That is so white trash to use a pink flamingo as a weapon. LOL

Wow, a new way to plot death! I wonder how many pink flamingos I can keep in my car for road rage.
Dean’s signing was fun, as his readers were invited to dress in their best pink flamingo wear or trailer park chic. One lady even brought a couple of lawn flamingos with her. No readers were harmed or killed during the signing of his books.
