More spoiling…

In Tom’s family, we all give stuff to the kids and the TomParents for Christmas, but among the siblings and siblings-in-law, we draw names. Among the many gifts I got from KT, who drew my name this year, this ornament which I posted about back in November sometime should be my favorite, and I do love it!

But I think my favorite has to be my Janet Jackson headset, because now I can have those hours-long phone conversations with Jim without tears over my strained neck. Yay!

Thanks, KT!

Coasters: 2006

Last year, I explained the history of The Coasters here. Short version: a wedding gift from a cousin to Tom and me of plastic lime-green coasters ended up being traded back and forth between Lynne and me over the years, until her son Jess got engaged and I brought his fiancée Laura into the mix.

Then last December, I pre-empted what I feared would be a return of the coasters to me by giving Laura lemon-slice coasters and Lynne watermelon-slice coasters. Laura also got some sponges with fruit slices on them and some fruit-slice candles. Because she’s so sweet, I figured she deserved a little something extra.

Sure enough, on Christmas Day 2005, the lime-slice coasters came home to me. Fine. That just meant I’d have to regift them.

Baking Night at The Compound

Friday was completely a SCORE! day. We received a box as big as my living room from Jim which I haven’t opened yet. I’m thinking it may contain a Mercedes G500. Jim, you shouldn’t have!

A box came from my secret Santa in Tom’s family–it’ll remain unopened until Monday. A box came from Timmy, and among other things, he sent cookies (OMG, SO GOOD) in this adorable tin, which I didn’t let Lynne see or she would steal it:

No More Drama

I don’t do/like drama.
I accept that shit happens. Sometimes bad shit. When it does, if there’s something to be done about it, I take action, because that’s part of my Aries nature. If there’s nothing to be done, I try to subscribe to the “what is” way of life rather than the “what if” way of life. “What if” leads to anxiety and/or regret, and neither of those is a state I want to be in.

All that being said, 2006 is definitely going to be remembered as a year of drama at The Compound: mainly, dog drama.

Decorating, Part 2

Last night, Tom and I went out to Green Acres to do a little decorating with Lynne. Years ago, every holiday season, Lynne and her sister, Liz, helped my heart grow three sizes larger with their decorating, baking, and other such holiday madness. Lynne is a Christmas ho.

So, while Tom put the lights on a ginormous tree that makes my tree look like a shrubbery…
