Everything after Harvey is a blur, honestly. This is what I call “The Alley,” a narrow area behind Tim’s and Debby’s apartments. You can see the water line of about 18 inches on the back wall. I can’t wait until all these reminders are cleaned up.

It’s so hot and dry today that all the flowers at Houndstooth Hall look miserable. Here’s one from Debby’s Fairy Garden. That brown blur in the background is Jack rooting around in one of her flower pots. There will be cooler and better days ahead for Houston and its residents.

I love this bracelet my mother had for her five grandchildren because it’s simple and old-fashioned. In order here, not by age, are charms for Sarah, Gina, Josh, Daniel, and Aaron. Their birthdates are engraved on the backs of the charms.
Aaron came along more than two decades after the first grandchild, Daniel, so his is different from the other two boys’ charms. It took me a while to find a place in Houston that carried them, and I don’t remember what year I gave her the charm to complete her bracelet.
